DEWEY-HUMBOLDT - The Dewey-Humboldt Planning and Zoning Commission plans a public hearing on amending the zoning ordinance for planned area development districts and overlay zones.
The commission also will consider an amendment to commercial building design review requirements at its 5:30 p.m. Thursday meeting in town hall at 2735 S. Highway 69.
The proposed zoning ordinance amendment - drafted by a seven-member subcommittee of primarily council members, commissioners and staff - would classify a planned area development, or PAD, as an overlay on an underlying zoning classification, rather than as its own zoning district.
In that form, the town could have better control over deviation in density requirements and allowances for the underlying zone.
The amendment would state that a property owner who wants to exceed the underlying zoning density has to go through the town's rezoning process.
