Obituary: Mary "Mayme" Rice

Mary "Mayme" Rice, who was lovingly known as Grams, passed away at age 82 on Jan. 28, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz. Mayme was born in Superior, Ariz., and spent most of her childhood in Jerome.

Mayme occupied her adult years with taking care of her immediate and extended family in Prescott.

What will be remembered most by those who loved her was her strong will and extraordinary devotion to those she loved. Never known as one to hold back, she had an amazing zest for life, and a love for dancing. Her extreme generosity was known by all and many lives were changed by her willingness to share anything she had.

Mayme left us peacefully and will join in heaven her husband Donald Rice, her parents, her brother John and her two sisters, Frances and Kay. She will continue to be loved and missed by those who survive her; her brother Robert Blain and her two children; her son Michael Rice and wife Teri; and her cherished daughter Joanne Coe and husband Paul, with whom Mayme lived with for the last 10 years. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen (Dorothy), Michelle, Justin (Stephanie), Jesse (Crissy), Matt, Frances and Mark; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Visitation is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, followed by a service at 12:30 p.m. at the Hampton Funeral Home, 240 S. Cortez St., Prescott, Ariz. Grams will then be laid to rest beside her immediate family in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Shrine of St. Jude 205 W.
