The deadline is approaching for anyone who wants to participate in the 25th annual Prescott Christmas Parade.
The Prescott Chamber of Commerce has set Nov. 9 as the closing date for entries in the parade, which will take place at 1 p.m. Dec. 1.
"The Christmas season 2007 marks the 25th anniversary of Prescott's annual holiday kick-off, and we want everyone to join in the celebration," stated a news release from the Chamber.
Prescott's Christmas Parade - one of the highlights of the holiday season -
annually draws as many as 10,000 spectators to downtown Prescott. Capping off the day will be the traditional lighting of the courthouse plaza, which will take place at 6 p.m.
Former St. Louis Cardinal player and NFL Hall of Famer Larry Wilson will serve as grand marshal for this year's parade, and "Spike," the official mascot for Super Bowl XLII, will ride with him.
The 2008 Super Bowl will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale in February, and the Chamber is asking Christmas parade participants to tailor their entries to match the Super Bowl theme.
The parade will include a number of categories, including: Commercial; marching - musical and non-musical; car clubs; churches; clubs and organizations (non-profit); schools; non-commercial. The parade also encourages school bands to enter. The parade entry fee is $20.
Prizes will go to the winners in each category, along with a grand prize to the entry that best captures the parade theme.
