Obituary: Lydia Duran

Lydia Duran, 71, of Prescott and Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away on June 25, 2007. She was born in Jerome, Arizona to Matilda Rivera and Fernando Duran, Sr. on April 1, 1936.

Lydia was a very giving and helping person, which netted her many friends. She will always be known as a mother, aunt, sister and daughter who deeply cared for her family.

She was known for creating "Fun Times" for her children, nephews and nieces.

Lydia is survived by three sons, William Paine, James Paine and Joseph Paine. She also has 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Lydia leaves behind six siblings, Fernando Duran Jr., Arthur Duran, Stella Garcia, Gus Duran, Louis Lira and Emma Gutierrez, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia was blessed to have a guardian angel, her eldest niece Connie Luna.

Lydia is preceded in death by her mother and her son, John Paine.

Services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Mass following at 10 a.m. Services will conclude at the Calvary Cemetery where Lydia will be laid to rest near her family.
