Obituary: Arthur L. Hatch

Arthur L. Hatch of Prescott, formerly of Grand Junction, Colo., died Dec. 15, 2007, in Prescott Valley, Ariz. He was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Oberlin, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Doris. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Hatch Franklin, her husband, Christopher Franklin, and their daughter, Tara, of San Jose, Calif.; sister Mary Larson of Bismarck, N.D.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Charles and Margaret Horsley of Prescott, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arthur met his wife, Doris, during WWII, in Portland, Ore., where he was in the Army Air Corps and she was working as a secretary. They were married Feb. 12, 1944, in Medford, Ore. Most of their married life was spent in Grand Junction, Colo. Arthur began working at Independent Lumber shortly after the war ended and was one of their most valued employees for 38 years, staying with the company when it was bought out by Boise Cascade. In 1998, he and his wife relocated to Prescott. Art enjoyed gardening, walking and listening to books on tape. He was devoted to his family and supported his granddaughter's ballet education.

There will be a 10 a.m. service Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at the Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey, Ariz.
