Obituary: Lois Elaine Tyler-Ellison

Lois Elaine Tyler-Ellison, 80, passed away on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, after a long battle with cancer.

Born in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, she was adopted by Percy and Celestia Davies. She grew up in Louisville, Ky., and graduated from the University of Louisville as a teacher. She married Justin Tyler in 1953 and moved to Morenci, Ariz., where they raised three daughters. Her daughters gave her three grandchildren.

She moved permanently to Prescott in the late 1970s to work at the City of Prescott Public Library and later became the Yavapai County Library Extension Director.

Though Lois grew up as an only child, she found out as an adult that she had a brother, Wally, and six half-brothers and sisters, with whom she had close contact for many years.

She married Hubert Ellison and spent 22 wonderful years with him, adding three more wonderful adult children and four more grandchildren to her family.

Her passions were Hubert, her extended family, friends, art, gardening, reading and her home.

Lois is survived by her children: Julie (Mark) Alver, Joyce (David) Read, Janice (Mark) Mir, Mary Brouillard, John Ellison and Martha Fiddes. Grandchildren: James Alver, Dillon and Daniel Mir, Doug Brouillard, Shawna Ellison, Katelyn and Matt Fiddes. Lois is also survived by four siblings.

In lieu of flowers, it is the family's wishes that a contribution to the American Cancer Society be made. An open house to honor her memory will be at a later date for her friends.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.
