George Philip Fagan - Dorothy Virginia DeLong - Dennis L. MacKaben - Gordon Grady Guffee - Robert M. Palmer - Harriet Pease - William June Hoag - Mildred L. Unick - Nicholas “Nick” Nann - Mercedes Mas

On the morning of Dec. 14, 2005, George Philip Fagan passed away after a long illness. He was born in Phoenix in 1924, to John Jay and Helen Hirst Fagan and was proud to be a second generation native Arizonan.

Growing up, he loved team sports and lettered in football, basketball and baseball at North Phoenix High School. As an adult he played golf, polo and tennis and became an avid Diamondbacks fan. He and his wife, Barbara, raised Arabian horses (in addition to their three children!) and learned and thoroughly enjoyed dressage riding later in life.

Phil served his country as a night fighter pilot, with the rank of Major, during WWII and afterward in the National Guard. After the war, he attended Phoenix College and then graduated from ASU. He taught grade school at Madison #1 in Phoenix, before becoming a general contractor, developer and consultant in the construction industry. His housing developments in Phoenix and Prescott reflect his skills for fitting houses into hillsides and preserving the desert ecology. Ocotillo Hills in Phoenix and Vista del Cerro in Prescott are two examples of his talent.

He is pre-deceased by brother, John Fagan. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Fagan of Prescott; brother, Robert Fagan and his wife, Marjorie of Portal; sister, Harriet Johnston of Portal and Geraldine Fagan of Alpine, widow of John. In addition, he leaves behind his son, Timothy Fagan, MD, and his wife, Mary of Tucson; daughter, Carol Dombey; and her husband, Craig, of Prescott; son, Larry Fagan and his wife, Donna, of Prescott; grandsons, Ian Fagan, Daniel Dombey and Ryan Fagan; and granddaughters, Darcy Dombey, Elissa Carter and Sarah Mackie.

There will be a private family service at the National Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, in North Phoenix, with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633 (http://www.alz.org) or to the Margaret T. Morris Center, 878 Sunset Ave., Prescott, AZ 86305.

Gordon Grady Guffee, age 83, passed away peacefully on Dec. 16, 2005. He was born in Abilene, Texas, on July 28, 1922.

During World War II, Gordon was a section leader for the 3807th Quartermaster Truck Company in the U.S. Army. He was married to Frances Simmans with whom he had two daughters, Colleen Gay and Carol.

Gordon led an adventurous life. Much of the 1950s and 1960s, he worked in Greece, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Libya, and the Marshall Islands.

Gordon married Marilyn Clevenger in 1974. They met on a hike while they were both living in the Phoenix area. They moved to Chino Valley in 1985 and then to Prescott Valley in 1991.
