Jack A. Abernethy age 73, died Dec. 9, 2005, in Prescott. Jack was born July 14, 1932, in Bay City, Mich., to Scott Joseph and Hazel Bell (Jones) Abernethy.

Jack and his wife, Bettie owned Prescott Valley Furniture for nine years before his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors especially when he went hunting, fishing, and camping. Jack served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. He especially enjoyed being with his family and they were his pride and joy. Jack will be missed by his family and friends. Jack and his wife, Bettie, celebrated 50 years together in June, and they went on their life long dream vacation to Alaska, in celebration of their many years together.

Jack is survived by his wife, Bettie; son, Craig (Tammy) Abernethy; daughter, Karen (Charles) Hildebrant; brothers, Leo Abernethy and Scott Jr. Abernethy; sister, Shirley (Glenn) Sowers; two grandchildren, Scott and Megan; and several nieces and nephews.

Commemoration services in honor of Jack will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at 3 p.m., at Sunrise Funeral Home’s Chapel, in Prescott Valley, with Pastor Charlie Hail officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #6, Prescott.

Memorials in Jack’s memory may be made to 7921 E. Siesta Lane, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314, with all proceeds to go to make the Christmas Holidays better for local veterans.

Waldo M. Hogy, age 74, passed away Dec. 11, 2005. “Hogy” was born July 31, 1931, in Kensington, Minn., to Joseph and Helen Hogy.

He loved his Nextel Racing, his dog “Lady” and his Jeep.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and his stepson. Hogy is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Beatrice, Julie Ann, Karen; sons, Steven, Bruce, Scott: stepson, Duffy; brother, Elmer; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at the Chino Valley Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church 1010 N Road 1 East Chino Valley, AZ 86323.

Paul Sanford Scott, age 76, died Dec. 10, 2005, in Scottsdale. He was born Oct. 11, 1929, in Tulsa, Okla., to Paul Vernon and Marjorie (Hamilton) Scott.

Paul shared 56 years of marriage with his wife Jean.

Paul is survived by two sons, Larry (Louise) and Robin; four brothers, John, Chief, Mike, and Charles; two aunts, Ima Pearl and Joanna; step-mother, Irene; seven grandchildren and seven great -grandchildren.

Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, participating in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Paul was a proud to be a Shriner and a member of the Masonic Lodge, serving as President of the Bradshaw Mountain Shrine Club, in Prescott Valley, in 2002.

Commemoration services, in honor of Paul, will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at Sunrise Funeral Home’s Chapel, in Prescott Valley.

Frances Grace Blalock, 86, born May 11, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wis., died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, in Prescott.

A prayer service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott.

John Richard Willoughby, 78, of Prescott, born April 4, 1927, in Long Beach, Calif., died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, in Prescott.

Sara Dyson, 94, of Prescott, born Jan. 9, 1911, in Ford County, Kansas, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, in Prescott Valley.

Robert Louis Whitney, 65, of Prescott, born Feb. 19, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, in Prescott.

A memorial Celebration of Life service with luncheon reception to follow will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Bradshaw-Wakelin Funeral Chapel on the corner of Valley and Navajo Roads in Prescott Valley.
