11/29/2009 10:34:00 PM Letter: Williamson Valley man didn't use derisive term
EDITOR:
Thank you, Mr. Middlebrook for your analysis and kind words. My wife and I chose to live in the valley over the city some time ago.
We enjoy the wildlife and quietness of the area. Being raised in "Dixie" and then the Pacific Northwest, I am familiar with rural life. It was only after I came home from Korea that I experienced the urban part of life. Driving Freeway Pursuit Units in Southern California for a number of years I saw a lot of it. I do not consider Pioneer Parkway or Prescott Lakes Parkway as freeways, or, "truck routes" as expressed at one meeting.
They, both parkways, move traffic and keep the corridor open, as I expect Williamson Valley Road to do in the future when it expands to meet existing needs. The tracts built already and the coming ones already have overpowered the existing road.
In our short time here, twice, we have been re-routed when accidents occurred near the stables, back to Pioneer Parkway, then around to Chino Valley, to get home.
I did not get to attend your latest meeting because my wife entered the hospital the day prior. My neighbors tell me I missed little. One issue, the road.
Your analysis seems to be that forming a town will solve all problems. I do not believe this. If you do form a town, you will be addressing much more than the road. Please leave me out of it.
I did not use the term "Nut Case," Ed. That came from you. I know that all do not agree with me, and all do not agree with a town formation. If you would like to discuss my view, I'm in the book. I have to get more boxes off to my Marines fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq now, and care for my wife. That's my current priority.

Thank you Tom Steele, another local big mouth with more opinions than time to write about them. Here's an opinion, Tom - you self-importance to this and all issues you choose to chime in on are as shallow as a wading pool. You must not have understood my post - want neither the taxes nor opinions from relocated wanna-be's here to retire. The only taxes are the local retail sales an property. This amount is insignificant compared to how opinionated they are. They don't want to support education - their kids are grown up, and they want to tell us how to run everything because that's how they did it in (you fill in the random city), where they're from. These people should have kept driving south on I-17 for about another 100 miles.

You "good ole boys" want it both ways. You want the income and taxes from new arrivals but not their opinions. Well, you get both. We are not stupid. We can smell a skunk as well as you "old timers".

It cracks me up that these residents think that their world begins/ends/revolves on 2 lanes of a stupid road. I mean take a step back and think about that for a second. Or is THINK too much to ask of you? and NO TEABAGGERS!!!

Californication, indeed
Hey Jerry - your letter seems to be more about YOU than a real issue. Getting "boxes off to my Marines"? Give me a break. If I were you, I'd stick to your "current priority" and quit playing armchair politics. Your opinion means little if nothing, and your self-promoting in the name of politics is disgusting. Want to help? Keep your nose out of local issues and your "opinions" to the four walls of your home. Your attitude typify the problem we have in Prescott - an out-of-towner moves here and 2 years later is an expert on all our problems and how to solve them. This isn't California.
