11/28/2009 6:57:00 PM Letter: Health care plan means more taxes
EDITOR:
The Senate Democrat health care bill is now complete and ready for merging with that of the House. It is even worse than anticipated by all of us "far-right-wing extremist" conservatives.
Democrats are touting the cost as being good for the economy. They, and most of the media, are failing to point out the salient points of all of the new taxes included therein.
We (yes, that includes ALL of us - not just those "filthy-rich capitalists") will be subject to an increase in payroll taxes (per Harry Reid). We will be taxed on all "medical devices" from pacemakers down to medicine cabinet items, including feminine hygiene products and even toothbrushes! The cost of health care policies will increase, and we also will pay taxes for government health care for three years before it becomes available. The government will take what used to be an individual decision to obtain health care out of our hands and levy fines and/or criminal charges on those who do not want to participate in government insurance.
The Democrats are being hypocritical in touting their fiscal responsibility by stating they are "paying" for this bill with cuts in other programs. (This includes our representative, Ann Kirkpatrick.) In reality, they are adding trillions of dollars to our debt by hiding Medicare and Medicaid costs in separate bills not included in the health care bill.
Many people voted for "change." Is this what they anticipated?
This is the kind of "change" that is taking away our freedom and independence and our Constitution is being totally ignored in favor of government control of our lives.
God help this country.

Blather. Blather.
As I read the...ahhhh...blather of Birther T. Bagur, honkywhatever and a few others, I say to myself, "Are they for real or just trolls?" There is little substance in their writing. Mostly they just insult those who don't agree with them. They are a total waste of bandwidth. Don't take them seriously.

Birther: Found that raw data yet?

I love this part where we let tradebagger stew in his own juices. Hello, is this thing on?

C'mon, seriously: By the way, if you are going to reference something I said, please get it right. Please show me with a direct quote where the “fact” you refer to was EVER said by me. Please use a direct quote. Like Birther… you will be looking for a long time, as it does not exist. In the future, please, if you are going to suggest that I said something, please direct quote me. Clearly, you have issues with facts and numbers like some others here.

Christopher: Well, I stand corrected, if indeed you were refereeing to the post where I cited ACTUAL POLL DATA that has all the raw data to support its conclusions. I guess you are like Birther and simply don’t want to accept statistically valid poll data for what it is? That is indeed your choice. Have you ever passed or even taken a statistics class? Did you review the raw data that accompanied the poll? Did you even read the poll itself? My guess is no. As for the CBO report… cherry pick? Did you read that report either? I just love you guys that have these blinders on. You are going to believe what you want in spit of any facts. That certainly is your choice, but is sad… sad indeed.

Well, I think you've proven my points about your method of argument far better than I ever could have. I'm jumping off of the hamster wheel now. I advise others to do the same, unless you just want some exercise. Even if you do, there are better ways to get it.

C'mon, really: Well… you need to explain that to the CBO if you believe your conclusion over theirs. As I said, these were DIRECT QUOTES from the report. I take it you are in the same club as Birther? He likes to make up numbers as he goes along without any foundation or data. Did you even read the CBO report? I seriously doubt it. You do know who the CBO is. Right? When you take on the CBO, please let us all know and make it a public debate. That should be good for a real good laugh.

Tradewinds, nice attempt at deflection. I was pointing out your ad populous argument (polls), not your cherry picking of the the CBO numbers.

Tradewinds quoted the "fact" that the 13.3 million people who are currently uninsured or underinsured would see premiums rise, while everyone else would see their premiums remain the same or fall as evidence that the plan would increase premiums for most Americans. The numbers may be real enough, but they don't support the conclusion.

C'mon man: Well… as with the last time you chimed in with your “logic” and started to quote the Constitution (which clearly you didn’t or don’t understand) and suggested that I was somehow attempting to “reframe the debate” I again ask you to point to one item that is as you put it “faulty.” As I just got done telling Birther, nothing I have QUOTED here is not absolute fact. Sorry. The QUOTES are directly from the report. I don’t make them up with phony numbers and faulty conclusions as with some we see here. Now, you, Birther and some others apparently don’t like the facts. That I can’t help. Birther likes to make up numbers and facts according to Birther without source data to substantiate his position. That is his choice, but it will not go unchallenged.

C'mon man
In order for a real debate to take place, a party whose logic is demonstrated to be faulty must either provide a new argument to achieve their conclusion or CEDE THE POINT. Turning it around into a personal attack, while emotionally effective, does nothing to repair the logic or bolster the strength of the argument. Ceding ground, regardless of logical necessity, is simply not in this individual's playbook. There is always another insult, another "fact" that has little or nothing to do with the question at hand, but must for some reason be dealt with. It's not honest misunderstanding, it's tactical misdirection. The discussion is therefore a dialectical hamster wheel. Run all you like.

Birther: If the truth were known, you really hate it when I simply QUOTE the report. None of your delusional addition to arrive at numbers that you want to see. Not my words, simply the facts and QUOTES. Learned a very long time ago, there is no need to make up so-called facts like some here, the REAL facts speak for themselves. Now… have you found that data yet?

Tradebagger, I can't express how awesome you are with simply words. You just claimed that insurance will be more expensive for the 13 million people who currently pay $0/year for insurance. That is a total revelation! You are the best economist on the planet.
