Letter: 'Wander the Wild' event benefited science education

EDITOR:

We want to thank all those who made the first "Wander the Wild" dinner and auction a huge success.

The Sept. 20 event at Juniper Well Ranch near Skull Valley benefited the science education programs of the Highlands Center for Natural History.

More than 120 guests enjoyed a beautiful Sunday afternoon with fine food and drink while supporting a great cause through a spirited live auction. We raised more than $15,000 to underwrite the cost of our school field trip program and provide scholarships to lower-income schools and youth.

We sincerely thank all who made the event a big hit. Our talented and dedicated planning committee included Betsy Miller (committee chair), Sharon Arnold, Loretta Bresof, Cathy Cunningham, Anita Fleming, Brenda Howard, Mary Ann Mira and Kathy Wells. Corporate sponsors included Taylor and Padgett Wealth and Legacy Strategies, Catalyst Architects, EV Solar, Prescott Residence Inn and Springhill Suites. In-kind contributions came from Foghara Advertising, Juniper Well Ranch, Jacy Lee of Batterman's Auctions, Jazzy's Wine Bar and Prescott Brewing Company. More than 30 individuals and businesses contributed auction items related to experiencing and appreciating the outdoors. On behalf of all the children who will benefit from wonder-filled outdoor science programs at the center, thank you for your generosity!

We are looking forward to the second annual "Wander the Wild" fundraiser next fall.
