The Prescott Unified School District's Outstanding Young Artists award ceremony has been rescheduled to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Gary Melvin Studio, 540 Sixth St., Suite D, in Prescott. Kindergarten to high school seniors display more than 130 art pieces including sculptures, paintings, photography and printmaking.
In conjunction with the art show, the art docents are raffling four original art pieces by professional artists Bruce Fee, Bret Blevins, Gary Melvin and Fred Poore. Raffle tickets cost $1 each or six for $5. All money earned from the raffle goes directly to PUSD's art program.

A benefit concert for Yavapai College teacher Janet Maissen starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Sharlot Hall Blue Rose Theater, 115 S. McCormick St., in Prescott. Doctors diagnosed Maissen with cancer in May 2009. Performers include Cadence String Bang, Tom Agostino, Kathryn Vandemark, and Rian and Maria McGonigal.

The deadline to enter art in the Prescott Fine Arts Gallery's exhibition "Wit and Wisdom: The Mature Eye" is Saturday, Jan. 23. "Artists are urged to submit works in all mediums that will enhance the show's theme, 'Wit and Wisdom,'" reads the PFA Gallery's call to artists. Dr. George Speer, director of Northern Arizona University Art Museum, is gallery judge for the accepted entries.

The band Here II Here, described by one music critic as being on the "leading edge of 'conscious pop' music," appears 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Old Town Center for Arts at the corner of Fifth and Main streets, in Old Town Cottonwood.
"Driven by their signature rhythmic blend of tribal pop, illuminated rock, and soul-inspired rhythm and blues harmonies, Here II Here's music penetrates audiences straight to the heart with moving, innovative lyrics of peace, awareness, connection, laughter, and of course divine love," reads the band's press release.

The popular Mayer duo D-Squared appears at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, in Sharlot Hall Museum's Blue Rose Theater, 415 W. Gurley St. This is the first concert in the theater's new monthly series of performances, "All Folked Up." The performances will feature local musicians highlighting Yavapai County's rich musical heritage.

Norwegian film director Erik Poppe's third movie, "Troubled Water," plays at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Prescott Public Library, 215 E. Goodwin St., in Prescott.
In the film, Jan Thomas serves prison time for kidnapping and killing a baby. After he is paroled, he works in a church as an organist. The mother of the murdered child attends the same church, and she and Thomas start on a collision course.
Prescott Public Library's international film program "Just for Grownups" shows a film the first Tuesday of each month. The films are free and open to the public.

The Artist's Path calls for new short and full-length plays written by Arizona playwrights on the topic of conflict and social crisis. The deadline is Aug. 1. Additionally, secondary school students are invited to participate in the junior division by submitting a short play, poem or visual art presentation on the theme. The junior division deadline is Nov. 1. Prizes will be awarded to winning entries.
