The Prescott POPS Symphony will ring in the Thanksgiving holiday with its "Thank Goodness for Music" concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Yavapai College Performance Hall.
The concert features the symphony performing with renowned French horn soloist David Cripps and the Central Arizona Concert Band under the direction of Clydene Dechert.
The POPS symphony, conducted by Paul Manz, will perform music from "The King and I," by Rogers and Hammerstein, "Night in Mexico," by Paul Creston, "The Beautiful Blue Danube," by Johann Strauss Jr., music from "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind," by John Williams, and Mozart's "Horn Concerto #4," featuring the impassioned artistry of Cripps, who was the principal French horn of the London Symphony Orchestra for 10 years.
The Central Arizona Concert Band will perform "American Overture," by Joseph W. Jenkins, "Chester Overture," by William Billings, "Tico Tico," by Zequinha Abreu, and "Movement for Band," by prominent local composer, Mike VanBlaricom.
Tickets for the concert are $20 for adults and $5 for those under 18. Information about discounts of up to 20 percent is available online at the Prescott POPS website, www.prescottsymphony.com.
