Heath and Cathy Krieger are opening their large home ceramic studio for their annual holiday show and sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday and during the same hours on Nov. 28 and 29 as part of the second annual Quad City Artists Open Studio Tour. Heath's ceramics and Cathy's animal portraits and landscape paintings will be featured. Heath will also be doing raku firing during the show. For more information, call 445-8642.
The Yavapai College Art Gallery at the Prescott campus will play host to Unexpected Encounters, a three artist show of photographic images, from Nov. 20 - Dec. 11, 2009. The art gallery is located inside the Yavapai College Performance Hall. All shows are free to view and open to the public.
Unexpected Encounters showcases the photography of Hank Keneally, Keith Stanton, and Don Younger.

Younger's current collection of photographs is called "Travel Places." His photographs have been described as "equally disturbing and charming."
The Opening Reception for Unexpected Encounters is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, in the art gallery. As an added bonus, the Yavapai College Art Gallery will be open for the Prescott Artwalk on Nov. 27 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Yavapai College Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The second annual Quad City Artists Open Studio Tour will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday and Nov. 28 and 29. An all new photography exhibit opens at 'TIS Gallery with a wine reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. The exhibit will feature a wide range of work from photographers in the Prescott area and include a variety of interesting photographic techniques. The exhibit will be open through Dec. 1 at 105 S. Cortez St. in Prescott. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Saturday, closed on Wednesday, and open until 7 p.m. during the 4th Friday Art Walk. Cowboy artist Bill Nebeker and his wife, Merry, will play host to a wine and cheese reception to showcase some of his newest sculptures from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Mt. Spirit Gallery, 140 S. Montezuma St.
The Mountain Artists Guild is planning its scholarship silent and live auctions from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4. With a $20 donation, guests will receive a souvenir wine glass, three drink tickets, hors d'oeuvres and dessert. Original works of fine art, crafts, jewelry and holiday gifts will be for sale. The Frame & I Gallery is featuring a Retrospective Art Show of Kathleen Golter Roeth's "whimsical, down-home, colorful, tiny and textural" artwork, which will be on display through Dec. 12. The gallery plans a reception for the artist from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 20, and a live art demo by the artist from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 27 during the 4th Friday Art Walk. Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery has opened its annual holiday fundraiser show, "Art to Celebrate the Kids in Our Lives," which will run through Dec. 15. All proceeds from the show benefit Child Haven Crisis Nursery. For information, call 776-7717. The gallery is located at 134 S. Montezuma St.
Three styles of abstraction converge at an exhibit showing the work of Carolyn Coalson, Tom Holder and Dana Saulnier at the Prescott College Art Gallery at Sam Hill Warehouse. Coalson is one of the Southwest's premier abstract painters and resides in Prescott. Holder, primarily a painter and printmaker, is a professor of art at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The work of Saulnier, an Ohio resident, has been described as "the mingling of earth, whether through color or imagery, when the artist's own life-world shines throughout." The show runs through Nov. 28. Prescott College Art Gallery hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
The Prescott Valley Art Guild's exhibit at the Samaritan Center in Prescott Valley features artists Elizabeth (Betty) Bartlee-Sabolik and Leona Anderson. Both artists work in oils and watercolor. The show runs through mid-January 2010. Refreshments will be available at the reception, and the public is welcome. The Samaritan Center is located at 3380 N. Windsong Road. Mountain Spirit Co-Op Art invites the public to meet its artists, readers and healers during a reception from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27. Arizona artist Judith Durr's "Enduring Legacy" continues its run until Feb. 14 in Sharlot Hall Museum's John and Helen Lawler Exhibit Center Gallery. Durr is the second of four prominent artists who are showing their works in a series of one-person exhibitions titled "PAINT! Breaking the Buckskin Ceiling." The exhibition is intended to challenge and expand the meaning of the term "Indian art" while increasing knowledge, understanding and appreciation of contemporary Native American art.

Keith Stanton bases his photographs on his curiosity with the post-modern idea that material wealth is a sign of achieving the "American Dream." The same "American Dream" which highlights the American lost sense of individuality, work ethic, thrift and craftsmanship. Stanton creates mixed media sculpture still-lifes of everyday suburban occurrences which make him question the "American Dream" then photographs them to his exact point of view. His intention is attracting the viewer into examining the underlying marketing forces which shape everyday life.
Dan Younger's current collection of photographs is called "Travel Places." His photographs have been described as "equally disturbing and charming." He attempts to capture the moments in-between the anticipated highlights of a vacation. These are depictions of what really happens around us in places where we go to be entertained, rewarded or just to relax. Some of these moments are delightful, others are confusing or even stressful.
