Clarkdale resident Derek Sailors immersed himself in research to accurately capture a slice of Jerome's wild past in his book, "A Copper Town Summer." A killer is on the loose, and the central theme of Sailors' debut novel is about the terror that gripped the Wild West mining town during the summer of 1921.
Career criminal Joseph Pazrosky has rolled into town on the run from his latest crime down south in Tucson. He worked briefly as a mucker in Jerome's Little Daisy Mine, all in an attempt to discreetly blend into his new environment. He assumed the name of Henry Joseph and became one of the characters in the book's key relationships - all hanging under a cloud of unsolved murders that created terror during that summer in Jerome.
Verde Independent Editor Dan Engler says the novel "is one of those books that grab you from the very start and is hard to put down until you've read the very last page." To buy the book, go online and type in its title to find sites where it is available.
