Prescott's popular American Roots band, The Remedy, will present an afternoon concert as part of the Folk Sessions series at the Highlands Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The "Harvest Time in the Afternoon" show will open with Prescott's "blues legend" and onetime member of Doc Watson's band, Lamar Hill, who will play and sing some folk and blues with finger-style accompaniment.
"Seeing The Remedy in concert should require a passport to travel into the musical worlds of blues, folk, rockabilly and roots music known as Americana," Folk Sessions director, Tom Agostino, said. "What do you get when you mix years of music-making in clubs to playing the Atlantic Pop Festival and Merlefest, then adding the geographic flavors of Nashville, Austin, Boston, Phoenix? The Remedy."
Remedy members include Paul Spradlin on lead guitar and vocals. Spradlin is a co-founding member of the nationally acclaimed Goose Creek Symphony. Hill will play keyboard, guitar and vocals and has played and recorded with Doc Watson, Merle Watson, Robin and Linda Williams, Phil Everly and many other Nashville greats.
Bill Rice, on bass guitar and vocals, spent many years "honing his chops" in Austin, Texas. Scott Ellis, on drums and vocals, "wore out the music scene in Phoenix" playing with the likes of Small Paul and Driving Wheel. Dennis Garvey, on guitar and vocals, played all over New England, including Club Passim in Cambridge, Mass.
The fest will take place in the amphitheater of the Highlands Center, 1375 S. Walker Road in Prescott. Tickets are $10 each. For more information, call 928-776-9550.
