Looking to snap a season-long four-game losing streak, netminder J.F. Perras and the Arizona Sundogs held the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees scoreless through nearly 48 minutes Saturday night en route to a 3-1 win in Hidalgo, Texas.
Perras turned aside 34 shots for his, and his team's sixth win of the year as the Sundogs outshot the Killer Bees 47-35.
Having not led since the second period of a 2-1 loss to the Colorado Eagles on Nov. 27, the Sundogs struck first with an early power-play goal.
Linus Fagemo picked up his seventh goal of the season on the team's second power-play opportunity of the first period, banging at a loose puck in front of goaltender Andy Franck at the top of the crease following a Matt Hanson shot from the point.
Defenseman Mike Nesdill collected his 10th assist of the season on the play along with Hanson at the first period's 5:55 mark.
Shots were 17-11 in favor of Arizona in the opening frame.
A pair of goals just 19 seconds apart midway through the second period helped the Sundogs to a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.
Veteran defenseman Chris Bartolone netted his second goal in as many games with his club's second power-play marker of the contest, fooling Franck with a blast from the top of the near circle at 11:59 from Jon Landry and Matt Foy.
Kyle Hood stretched the Sundogs' lead to three 19 seconds later with his fifth of the year from defenseman Evan Shaw.

Plastic bag over my head until coach is gone
Last year, JB and I took a beating from many of the other fans as we prophetically saw what was coming. We both yelled for a new coach last year and now more and more are seeing the facts. It is truly amazing to see the turn around for the push to get Marco gone. Marco, no hard feelings, we just want you gone as you have successfully messed another year up. Just think.... at this rate with the wins, you will be 90 when you get your 200th win. I can hardly wait. If a team is only as good as their leader, the Dogs are in pretty sad shape!!!

Yes we won the cup, but look at our team we had. Two of our defensemen are now playing in the NHL (Schlemnko and Sullivan who actually just got called back to the AHL). We had three other talented AHL talent (Collins, Redenbach, and Leavitt,) Oh and I forgot Urquhart who was unbelievable and is tearing it up in the ECHL. Everyone thinks he will be in the NHL in two years. That is not coaching what so ever that is awesome talent that made up for bad coaching. Marco is an ego maniac who won't listen to what anyone tells him. Just look at the product on the ice and you can tell the coaching is horrible. BYE BYE Marco you worthless coach.

It's truly about time...
Yes, we won a cup, in huge part due to an affiliation that gave us five or six outstanding players that were clearly more talented then most CHL players. The coach didn't recruit any of them, and a trained frog could have changed lines and had success. Now he's managed to screw up the affiliation, and its clear he can't have success on his own. A poorly recruited, poorly coached club being operated, from what I hear, by a guy who refuses to even consider anyone else's ideas. That's fine if you're winning, but you're losing, badly. Maybe we'll get an early XMas present and this coach will get his walking papers early this week.

Gray Out
It's becoming quite discouraging and a waste of time and money for the fans/season ticket holders. Maybe we can deduct the money as a loss on our income taxes? It's the typical token win amongst the many losses. This team is going to be hard pressed to win 20 games for the season without major changes done immediately. Playoffs are out of the question...as former NFL coach Jim Mora once said, "Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs!" Their next 8 games include 3 with Texas, 3 with Odessa, 1 with Tulsa, and 1 with Amarillo which means 7-8 losses. Then during the second half of January, they have a stretch with games at Texas and Allen, and 5 in a row with Odessa. There's another 7 losses. But by then with no changes, the season will be a total wash anyways. There has been White outs and Red outs at Sundog games. How about a Gray out for us disenchanted fans? Gray, the color for gloom. Start wearing Gray Sundog sweat shirts to every home game to represent the need for an immediate Head Coach/GM change. Get the word out for a big following and maybe then ownership will see the fan's discontent of the way this team is being run. And QUIT applauding poor play after a loss at the end of the game. Stop embarrassing yourselves and just leave for crying out loud!

A shame..
A truly disheartening result for Sundogs fans, as it may prevent the axe from falling on the guy behind the bench. I hope ownership realizes that playing one decent game in five, and beating a team that played the night before and traveled significantly, is not much of an accomplishment. I'll still hold out faith that some new organized blood with better recruiting and coaching abilities is coming soon. Cross your fingers, as playing barely well enough to keep this guy employed is awfully hard to get behind.
