The losses continue to mount for the Arizona Sundogs. Though they continue to drop games by the slimmest of margins.

Arizona lost 2-1 on Friday night to the Colorado Eagles at Tim's Toyota Center. At 5-9-2 on the season, seven of the 10 regulation, overtime and shootout losses have been by one goal.

The Sundogs appeared to score first in the second period, but the referee blew the whistle when he lost sight of the puck atop the crease stopping the play. But the 'Dogs still managed to jump on top in the latter stages of the frame on a power play goal by Linus Fagemo.

Kevin Gardner fed Fagemo from behind the net for Fagemo's sixth goal of the season. He has now scored in four straight games after coming off the injured reserve just five games ago. Konrad Reeder also extended his point streak to eight games on the play with his team-leading 10th assist. He leads the club with 17 points.

However, the lead didn't last long as the Eagles scored exactly four minutes later with just 27 seconds to go in the period. Ryan Tobler got his sixth goal of the season on an assist from Riley Nelson and Aaron Schneekloth.

Tobler tallied again from Nelson in the third period to complete the scoring.

J.F. Perras took the loss in net for the Sundogs despite turning away 26 of 28 shots. And this was just two nights after the Eagles hung 10 goals on Amarillo. Perras' counterpart, Mike Mole, was just that much better with 28 saves on 29 shots faced.

Arizona was 1-for-6 on the power play while Colorado was 0-for-4.

The 'Dogs are now 2-6-1 at home this year. They have not won back-to-back games yet this season and sit last in the Southern Conference standings. Only Wichita has a lower winning percentage in the CHL, though Arizona is even in goals for and goals against at 54-54.

The Eagles have won five straight in Prescott Valley, making them 5-5-1 in Arizona all-time. The two teams will meet again Saturday at 7:05 p.m. on Military Appreciation Night.

Before Friday's game, Arizona activated right winger Matt Foy and waived Brett Hemingway. Friday was just Foy's third appearance of the season. He has two assists this year. He had been granted a short leave of absence by the league to attend to family matters.

Hemingway was with the team for about a week, appearing in three games and recording one assist.

The ref's were horrible, but that being said COACH MARCO needs to show some backbone. Marco should of been kicked out of the game after the ref missed the Colorado player kicking the puck into the net. The entire game was poorly officiated and Marco said nothing until the end of the game. Suggestion to Marco: Pull your players from the ice until the ref comes over to talk to you. Get at least a two minute unsportsmanlike or get kicked out of the game. The ref blew his whistle twice when the goalie did not have the puck, one resulted in a goal that did not count. The linesman was calling offsides that was not even close. Worse ref's I have seen in any game. Marco stand up and say something stop being a little girl just standing behind the bench doing nothing and saying nothing. Also WHY did you wait until there was only 25 seconds left to pull your goalie and never use your timeout? Poor officiating and poor coaching = LOSS

Same old same old huh? This team clearly can only occasionally compete. but it must be the ref's fault. How about the pathetic special teams? I guess an occasional moral victory is all we can expect from this poorly recruited, under motivated and horrendously coached group. DUI's, player brawls in bars, two wins in nine home games, congratulations coach, heck of a job.. while you still have one.

Is the CHL the place where refs get trained, cause if it is the refs from last night need to go back to where they started from cause they were aweful. Seems that there are more STUPID calls for the sundogs than the opponents in this season.. Hey Refs, get your head out and watch the game from both ends. NO FAVORITES.

This game was just atrocious... The referee was a joke, the coach was just plain ridiculous, and I bet everyone is feeling sorry for the Sundog players. For goodness sakes, they don't even have a coach that's backing them.... And that ref should've been kicked out of the game.

The dogs did real good, i thought. Playing against a team ranked first or second. I wouldnt be too upset with this loss. I will say, the ref took away one good goal for sure. Anyway see what happens tonight.
