Anniversary: Phil and Alice Corson

Phil and Alice Corson of Prescott, Ariz., spent most of their lives in Portland, Ore. Phil was in his teacher education program at Portland State University and Alice was an auburn-haired beautician. They married the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, 50 years ago.

Five years later, they took their two little boys and flew to the tropical island of Guam so Phil could teach. When they were engaged, Phil promised Alice that they would see the world - and he kept his word. During the next four years they traveled to the Philippine Islands, saw most of southeast Asia, the islands of Micronesia and Europe.

They lived in Ellensburg, Wash., for one year while Phil took his first masters degree. But family and friends drew them back to Portland for the next 15 years. Phil took more grad work while Alice was a "home executive," caring for Mark and Brent.

They became missionaries with International Students Inc., serving at their headquarters in Colorado Springs before retiring near Guadalajara, Mexico, for over four years. Family drew them back to the states, living in Kerrville, Texas, for two years prior to relocating in Prescott seven years ago. They are currently members at Prescott First Baptist Church.

While on an RV trip to the northwest this summer, they enjoyed a one week cruise to Alaska and spent another week in Honolulu this fall.

Phil and Alice are celebrating this special Thanksgiving and 50th anniversary with all their family in Fresno, Calif. Eldest son Mark and wife Karen, with four grandchildren, live in Bend, Ore. Younger son Brent, wife Karen and three grandchildren are hosting the family reunion celebration in Fresno.
