Tri-city fuel prices spike by 3 cents

AAA Arizona on Wednesday reported that fuel prices in the tri-city area rose nearly 3 cents from this past week.

The average price is $2.448 per gallon of regular unleaded fuel, a 2.6-cent gain.

The statewide average is $2.441 per gallon. Tucson drivers are paying the least for fuel in Arizona with an average of $2.222 per gallon, and Flagstaff motorists are paying the most with an average fuel price of $2.677 per gallon.

PV flower shop has new home

The Prescott Valley Florist shop is in a new location.

The shop is now at 8650 Highway 69, just east of Navajo Drive next to Yavapai Hearing Aid.

Shop owners Mark and Kim Jensen began their business in August 1997, and they are responsible for starting the annual Good Neighbor Day event to build a closer community through the free flower give- away program.

Spring Valley Pharmacy earns award

Spring Valley Pharmacy recently garnered a three-year accreditation award from the American board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics Inc.

The award represents the highest level of accreditation available in the provision of diabetic supplies and recognizes the pharmacy for achievements in the areas of organizational management, patient care standards, quality assurance, supplier compliance and facility and safety management, according to a press release.

Lewis new Humane Society surgeon

Dr. Greg Lewis is the new veterinary surgeon at the Yavapai Humane Society.

Lewis has more than 35 years of experience with spay/neuter procedures.

He was formerly the veterinary surgeon for the Phoenix-based Animal Rescue Center, according to a press release.

Tender Hearts VP honored by Rotary Club

Debra Judy, vice president of Tender Hearts Senior Care in Prescott, recently got the Paul Harris award from the Noontime Rotary Club of Prescott.

The award recognizes people whose lives demonstrate a shared purpose with the objectives and mission of the Rotary Foundation, according to a press release.

Desert Hills Bank hosts shredding event

Desert Hills Bank and Holdsworth & Co. Accounting & Financial Advisors are hosting a free shredding party for the community.

The event is in the Crossings at Willow Creek Road center at 3027 Dollar Mark Way on Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

People can have up to four legal size boxes of personal information shredded for free.

Architect wins AIA award for ERAU chapel

Prescott-based landscape architect T. Barnabas Kane recently got a merit award from the American Institute of Architects for his work on the Fred and Fay Haas Memorial Interfaith Chapel at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University campus.

Judges said the chapel's design is "refreshingly modest yet powerful," and they compared it to Frank Lloyd Wright's 1951 Wayfarer's Chapel in California,

according to a press release.

Work on the chapel ended in 2008 and cost $1 million.
