D-H library to offer Christmas activities

Dewey-Humboldt's Town Library, 2735 S. Corral St., ushers in the holiday season with a Christmas Arts and Crafts session for children ages 8 to 12 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. this Saturday.

Youngsters will decorate the library's Christmas tree with ornaments that they create, including Cinnamon people, stained glass pretzels and garlands.

They also will make Christmas cards and ornaments to take with them for decorating their trees at home.

Mary Harbeck, the library's Arts and Crafts coordinator, will play host to the activity, which will include refreshments.

Next Saturday, Dec. 19, the library will conduct its Story and Activity Time for children ages 4 to 7 with Heidi Remakel's Christmas Angels presentation.

Participants will get to hear stories and sing carols about angels - and play in a band.

In addition, they can create their own guardian angel book and an angel Christmas ornament, and decorate an angel stocking.

Before they leave, kids are invited to sample Angel food and receive a special gift to take home.

For both events, parents may register their children by calling 632-5049 or by stopping in at the library.

The library is located at 2735 Corral St. in Humboldt near the Kate Garber Activity Center and Humboldt Elementary School. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed for lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 12:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
