Vikki McCloud, a fifth-grade teacher at Territorial Elementary School, is Chino Valley Unified School District's Teacher of the Quarter for the first quarter.
CVUSD Supt. Duane Noggle said, "Vikki is an extremely dedicated teacher. Without exception, she is willing to go the extra mile to help students or staff. It is with great pride that we recognize her as Teacher of the Quarter."
TES Principal Carolyn Reeder added, "McCloud teaches the whole child."
McCloud holds a bachelor's of science in education and master's of art in education from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.
She taught in Department of Defense schools abroad for 16 years before joining the CVUSD teaching staff in August 2000.
She has taught fifth grade at TES since arriving in the district.
In her nomination application, Tracie Hackett, a fellow TES teacher, stated, "Vikki always works hard to make learning fun for her students. She uses her voice and her actions as well as her teaching methods to help make learning exciting."
Hackett said McCloud makes sure all of her students are participating and contributing to the learning. "She teaches students to become more involved and accountable in their learning."
"Vicki adds creativity to her lessons in order to keep her students excited about learning. She expresses her own excitement for the topic she is teaching and this excitement transfers to her students," she said.
Hackett added, "Vikki is involved with her students and takes time to talk to students individually. She greets them with a handshake every morning upon entering the classroom and makes that individual connection with her students as they leave the classroom before going home."
Hackett also said McCloud takes the initiative and is a leader. "Vikki has worked to improve the science program at TES and the writing program for fifth grade. She has put in extra time and professional development to increase her knowledge and increase student learning. Vikki is one of the first to go the extra mile to get the job done whether it is to help her students or colleagues."
"She expects the best and most from her students and gives the same of herself," said Hackett.
