Meteor lights night sky from Utah to Yavapai County
The Daily Courier

People from Utah to Yavapai County saw a green-hued meteor streaming toward Earth early Wednesday.

The meteor came into the atmosphere at 12:07 a.m. Wednesday, lighting up the night sky.

Verde Valley resident Dan Meyers said he was driving on Cornville Road when he saw an "incredibly large greenish fireball, trailing green flames, and giving the entire northern sky a greenish hue...In fact, the interior of my car was green, it was so bright."

He sent an e-mail to The Daily Courier's sister newspaper, the Verde Independent, about his experience.

It was about the size of an oven and traveling at about 80,000 mph, Seth Jarvis, director of the Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City, told The Associated Press. It almost certainly broke up before it reached the ground, he said.

It likely was associated with the annual Leonid meteor shower, scientists said. The shower peaked early Wednesday.

Article comment by: Whats wrong with Venus

Whats wrong with Venus. They say thats Venus is much closer to the Sun than Earth. So at night when you look at the stars, The Sun is facing away from you, your looking away from the Sun. So why at night you can see Venus and Mars together. Something is not right here. I thought and thought about that. There could be a big mystery here. something that has been withheld from us for hundreds of years. One of the only things I can think of is, Yes, Venus is much closer to the Sun than Earth. But why can we see it in the night sky. It's because it has an egg shaped orbit, and it swings around the back side of the Earth. And you know what that means. It's very likely that Venus will hit Earth. Maybe soon. Earth will be destroyed. Hint Hint Big Secret....

I'm sorry we missed this one. About a week ago we saw a huge meteor white in color. It began Southwest of Prescott, It shot all across the sky. Breaking apart in three pieces. It was headed toward the Flagstaff area. It made no noise, and took about 15 seconds to travel across the whole sky.

I was watching the sky and listening to the police scanner. The PV police thought it was space junk at first.
