The Yavapai County Water Advisory Committee on Wednesday will discuss yet another potential budget cut to the Arizona Department of Water Resources.
The meeting starts at 2 p.m. at the Yavapai County government offices in Cottonwood, corner of 6th and Mingus.
The committee and other rural leaders already sent a letter to the governor and legislators opposing the elimination of rural water programs in the Arizona Department of Water Resources.
Now committee Coordinator John Rasmussen said he has heard that a new proposal would eliminate the ADWR's active management area offices. Prescott is home to one of those offices. The state has five active management areas, located where the state believes water resources are in danger of depletion.
Among other items, the committee also will say goodbye to Bob Roecker, who is leaving the Prescott City Council. He has been Prescott's representative on the committee since 2002; fellow council member Mary Ann Suttles will replace him.
