MAYER - One year after losing a one-point heartbreaker to its cross-area rival, the Mayer High School football team was out for revenge - big-time.
Despite surrendering 30 points in a wild fourth quarter Friday night at Mathern Field, the Wildcats outlasted the Orme School in a marathon 66-54 victory behind bruising junior running back David Atkerson.

PRESCOTT - The Prescott Lady Hawks, a developmental 16-and-under girls' softball team, could not have scripted its summer season much better than this.
In only their second campaign together, the Lady Hawks have posted a pair of big tournament wins: the 16U Amateur Softball Association of America, or ASA, Class "B" (rural Arizona teams) state tournament earlier this month in Kingman and the ASA "Beat the Heat" tournament two weeks prior in Prescott.
