Local legislators sponsor bill seeking Obama proof of citizenship
AP and staff reports

PHOENIX - Nearly half of the Arizona Legislature wants to force President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate to state officials if he runs for re-election.

Legislative District Four (LD4) Rep. Judy Burges, R-Skull Valley, is the bill's main sponsor. A state House committee on Tuesday approved the measure sponsored by 40 of the state's 90 legislators. All are Republicans. Primary co-sponsors representing parts of Yavapai County are LD1 Rep. Lucy Mason, R-Prescott, and LD4 Sen. Jack Harper, R-Surprise. Other bill co-sponsors representing parts of this county are LD1 Rep. Andy Tobin, R-Paulden, and LD4 Rep. Tom Boone, R-Peoria.

House Bill 2441 would require U.S. presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the constitutional requirements to be president.

Burges said she brought forward the idea after constituents approached her. She said people have to show their birth certificate to enroll in youth sports or get a passport, so they should have to show it to run for president.

So-called "birthers" have contended since the 2008 presidential campaign that Obama was born in his father's homeland of Kenya, even after his official Hawaii birth certificate was made public along with birth notices from two Honolulu newspapers published in August 1961. Courts have rebuffed lawsuits challenging Obama's eligibility to be president, but the issue hasn't gone away.

Northern Arizona University political science professor Fred Solop described "birthers" as a small fringe group of extremists and said the Arizona lawmakers supporting their cause are walking a political tightrope.

"It would be very easy to go a little too far with this, to be aligned with the fringe and to alienate the more mainstream voters who ultimately you need to win office," he said.

If Obama was adopted his original (truthful) birth certificate was sealed by the State Of Hawaii and an amended (falsified) birth certificate was issued to him.

One thing to remember it really doesn't matter where he was born...as he was adopted by Lolo Sotero in Indonesia a country which did not recognize dual citizenship...hence wherever he was born had to be dropped, my question then is this...why did he travel to Pakistan in 1980 & 1981 on an Indonesian Passport...did he ever renounce his Indonesian citizenship...if so when ...and did he ever take the US oath of citizenship and if so when...and since he would then be considered an NATURALIZED citizen he is INELIGIBLE to sit as POTUS.

I also found it interesting that I had to log into a different computer to get to this article as I was blocked from mine...hmmm...something must be going on here...what do you think?

I truly hope your state does demand that EVERY candidate present ALL valid documentation. Also find it interesting that pelosi signed two different forms after the convention...one with reference to the Constitution and one without said reference.... Good Luck to all of US!! Namaste

"Obama released his Hawaiian birth certificate and had it verified by an independent organization and the results were posted online for everyone to see. ----

Repeating this false propaganda over and over does not make it true."

Birther Stories.
- Obama should release his long form birth certificate.
- a Certification of Live Birth isn't a birth certificate.
- a Certification of Live Birth is given to children not born in Hawaii.
- Certification doesn't mean certificate.
- The number is out of sequence. Obama's certificate number is later than the Nordyke twins even though he born a day earlier.
- The State of Hawaii shouldn't be stepping in to verify Obama birth certificate it is solely Obama's responsibilty.
- Obama should produce the original birth certificate.

The birthers argument is propaganda, disjoint arguments that contradict each other. All the above are misinformation, word distortions, and cheap deception.

Some birthers reject the birth certificate because it isn't a long form. Some birthers reject the birth certificate because of the record number. Some birthers reject the birth certificate because it is missing information (which can be found on the back). Some birthers claim that the State of Hawaii has no say on the issue. Some birthers claim that the State of Hawaii need a legal opinion to have a say. Some birthers claim that both parents are required to be American citizen for a person born in America. And the list goes all disjoint and contradict other arguments.

So, when a birth complains about propaganda it easy laugh. They have various arguments and the president has one authenticated Hawaiian Certification of Live Birth. In this case one beats many.

No matter what you might think there is no escaping that AKA Obama is not practicing the virtue of full disclosure.

Which is most likely
(a) AKA OBAMA is hiding documents that are innocuous?
(b) AKA OBAMA is hiding documents that are damaging?

In 1961, the Public Health Services, U. S Department of Health, Education and Welfare, National Center for Health Statistics, National Vital Statistics Division published the "Vital Statistics of the United States

Here is a blank copy of the Standard Certificate of Live Birth used by all states including Hawaii., This is the information being hidden by Obama.

http://thesteadydrip.blogspot.com/2009/07/blank-birth-certificate-form-aka-obama.html

Plus read the article that is included with the blank copy.

Here is what a real Hawaiian Birth Certificate looks like:
http://thesteadydrip.blogspot.com/2010/02/obama-faces-fellow-hawaiian-with-real.html

Who Certified AKA Obama as "Natural Born"?
http://thesteadydrip.blogspot.com/2009/11/this-from-obama-file-one-of-best.html

Do you really think AKA Obama would have won the election if all the things he is hiding were made known?

Do you really think AKA Obama will be able to finish his first term if all the things he is hiding are made known?

The only conspiracy is the media and the obots who suppress the revelation of AKA Obama's history.

Obama “I have nothing to hide but I’m hiding it.”

Get a clue, you have no standing to lecture me about patriotism. It's a classic tactic to call those you disagree with unpatriotic. It worked in the late 30's in Germany when people were far less educated to the techniques of propaganda. It does not work anymore but that does not keep the uninformed from trying. If you mean government as with the republican controlled majority, I would agree they made a disaster of this State's finances, in part because they cut taxes for upper income earners and for special interest industries (the best legislature money can buy). If you mean the Great Recession caused by a Republican administration as the primary reason for the high unemployment and loss of income tax revenues, that's what you get with the party of corporatism with a simpleton's philosophy of 19th century laissez faire economics. The time of the good government movement in Arizona was a Republican program that created most of the modern era state law governing the actions of cities and counties. It set the laws for how cities operated, created planning and subdivision laws, financial transparency and open meeting laws and gave us Barry Goldwater. This was almost 50 years ago. That party no longer exist, only a sorry mixed up group of Republicans that don't know what they stand for, since less government, lower taxes and tickle down (voodoo) economics is a proven failure. However, I will agree that the republican brain trust in our legislature chose to raise sales tax to correct their years of conservative policy failures. The sales tax increase is dead on arrival and conservative's socialism for the upper income and favored industries will need to be revisited by a new legislature.

Did I hear the word good government? Now let me see. Hummmm…. Christopher, it would be interesting to find out what you mean by good government. Do you mean increasing the budget 94% between 2000 and 2007 good government? Do you mean that raising your property tax by one-billion dollars good government? Do you mean raising sales tax one-billion dollars good government? Because that was the plan presented by your fellow Democrats to balance last year’s budget. With 300,000 citizens out of work and facing home foreclosures or even worse yet bankruptcy, your fellow Democrats in the legislature wanted to place an even bigger burden on the working class of this state. By the way, are you on welfare? ... Or is sound judgment just a little beyond your reach. Keep exercising the brain, one day it will come to you what patriotism and the exercise of it means. ... Are you one of the people standing out on the street corner picking your nose and getting signatures to legalize Mary Jane?

Our government is broken. The legislators are impotent and can't do a dang thing to fix what's broken in AZ. What they can find the time for is write frivolous laws and allow guns in bars. You can tell the Republicans are in charge. Here's a bit of advice from a very active voter. I have voted for Republicans, I have voted for Democrats. I never vote party line, but I certainly will never vote for anyone who avoids doing the work we hired them for in order to score cheap party points. Get to work and fix the problems in our state. That's what we hired you to do, now get to work.

Insider: You must definitely be inside a box, under a bushel or in a closet. I would think that embarrassment would be the prospect of finding out that the “global warming scare’ was indeed a hoax, while good ole Al Gore and his cronies raked in the cash from all the tree huggers who bought into their propaganda. It is just as obvious that the crowd from Washington hasn’t heard that one either. They certainly don’t mind sticking it to the citizens of Arizona with a wonderful scheme called “Cap N Trade.” This little gem would only cost the citizens of Arizona up to $14 billion. Yes, billions in gross domestic product over an eight year period. But of course, I am sure you would not mind if your energy prices went up almost 50%, your gas prices went up 27%. Just think, we could add another 124,000 jobs to the 300,000 unemployed citizens who are currently left holding the bag after the sub-prime loan scams from Washington DC. Hello Insider!!! Do I hear rattling in there? Is that a pea I just saw fall out of the ear?

Black man get elected and the nut-buckets want to deny that legitimacy. Duh! Two(2) contemporaneous birth announcements point to the birth and a state issued birth certificate can be viewed on the web. Doesn't anybody watch the 'antique road show'. That's called prominence. Not only would a person need to alter the State archives, they would need to have altered two(2) newspaper archives. What is more likely to be true, his natural birth in Hawaii, or a huge conspiracy to alter records with the foreknowledge that he may one day be president. The law suits are bogus, as was mention by the writer who described the "full faith and credit" clause. The certified copy issued by Hawaii is 'on it's face' accepted by any competent court. (The original is a permanent public record and can not be removed). Underlying this 'birther' nonsense is a form of cultural shock, upsetting core beliefs of a god given superiority and a form of denial to avoid confronting the truth that all men are created equal. The first black president is being denied authenticity in the minds of this small group of 'true believers' by rationalizing this dumb conspiracy theory. Get over it. The Harvard graduate, Constitutional Law professor, Senator and now President debunks any notions of any god given superiority on their part. Besides, I like the guy and take offense at those who would presume to tell me to love it or leave Arizona. I'm a native and request it may be easier for the new transplants from other States who have so altered the demographics of this once liberal, good government state now populated by right wingers with their lowest common denominator politics to leave instead, (if they so dislike it). Lucy and Andy, you both know better and are pandering to this lowest common denominator politics.

How could anybody think that protecting the integrity of our nation's top elected position is a waste of time? If it were such a waste of time, shouldn’t Obama be partially (if not wholly) to blame for not putting a stop to it. All he has to do is present his Birth Certificate (not a Certification of Live Birth) to the people he works for, WE THE PEOPLE. The Certification of Live Birth isn't enough to even get a passport. How can it be enough for the position of President of the United States of America? Question all political leaders. It's our right, as well as our duty.

I agree with Serious ... we can thank our former governor for getting us into this situation. Now, our legislators are trying to work through this mess without the help of our current governor. It is really easy to make people think that you have "Inside Information" and call these representatives "idiots", but unless you are there and actually know what is going on, you don't know what you're talking about. You are just using this forum for your own personal gain. This article was not even about the budget, but to ensure that people have the credentials they need to hold an office. ...

I agree with Serious. Napalitano wanted to take credit for the "Rainy Day Fund" in her campaign and yet she voted against it. She did a lot of shady things that were not exposed by the media, including getting us in the shape we're in. Now our legistators are trying to clean up the mess and figure a way out. I question your IQ Andy .... if you want to see stupid, don't go any further than your bathroom mirror.

There is also a lot of ignorance here about the Constitution from both sides. According to the accepted definition of the Constitution, no one can become President if they were born on foreign soil EVEN IF their parents were both American citizens. This is why the debate erupted over John McCain, who was most assuredly an American citizen from the moment he was born, but the Panama Canal zone may or may not have constituted American soil. Bottom line is, though, this whole debate is absurd, and self-proclaimed "patriots" are giving the word a bad name.
