When Prescott High School students return to school Aug. 9, they will find two new administrators in the front office.

The PUSD Governing Board Tuesday evening approved Deborah Salcedo as assistant principal and Ryan Tyree as dean of students at the high school.

State appeals order blocking parts of immigration law
Arizona asked an appeals court Thursday to lift a judge's order blocking most of the state's immigration law as the city of Phoenix filled with protesters, including about 50 who were arrested for confronting officers in riot gear.

Republican Gov. Jan Brewer called U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton's Wednesday's decision halting the law "a bump in the road," and the state appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco on Thursday.

Judge blocks parts of Arizona immigration law
A judge has blocked the most controversial sections of Arizona's new immigration law from taking effect Thursday, handing a major legal victory to opponents of the crackdown.

The law will still take effect Thursday, but without many of the provisions that angered opponents - including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws.

The hunt for 2-year-old Syler Newton is into its fourth day, and the search area is about to get bigger.

Dwight D'Evelyn, spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, reported Tuesday that investigators plan to widen the search area to make sure searchers are being as thorough as possible.
