Country star headlines Valentine concert to benefit veterans' charities
On Saturday, Feb. 13, the Coors Event Center at the Yavapai County Fairgrounds will become the largest honkytonk in Northern Arizona.

Country legend Johnny Lee, whose music was featured in the movie "Urban Cowboy," will bring his "Looking for Love Tour" to a night organizers are calling "romantic, patriotic and affordable."

Neil Simon classic opens Prescott run
PRESCOTT - Neil Simon fans may be in for a treat with Prescott Fine Arts Association's production of the famous playwright's "Brighton Beach Memoirs," which opened Thursday.

"'Brighton Beach Memoirs' is a hilarious and sentimental autobiographical account by Neil Simon of his teen years in Brooklyn amidst an overcrowded household filled with eccentric family members learning to live together," PFAAs Suzy Campbell explains.

World-famous artists display their work at Prescott College
PRESCOTT - For the second time in less than a year, the Prescott College Art Gallery has a museum-quality photography exhibition of two of the world's most influential black and white film photographers of the 20th Century.

"In Tandem" displays 67 original silver gelatin prints by Aaron Siskind and Harry Callahan. The exhibition closes Jan. 30.

"The Shrill Ball" multi-band festival comes to Prescott Valley's Coors Event Center 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Yavapai County Fairgrounds, 1501 E. Highway 89A.

"This is a huge concert," said concert promoter Jeremy P. Baca, who organized the festival.

The sight of the "Dying Gaul" statue at the University of Texas' art museum many years ago led Prescott resident Gail Mangham to "The Artist's Path."

"It was a kinesthetic sense that he was rising," she said of the experience in 1980. "I got up to walk over, wanting to help him."
