Letter: Vote out tyrants at earliest opportunity

EDITOR:

The right-wing is like a pebble in our shoe. Most people just want to belong, have a great future for their children, be part of the middle class, and have a job and food on the table. But this pebble - in the form of blowhard rhetoric and unconstitutional legislation - makes each step so difficult.

This pebble is continuously preventing us from walking through life without pain and anguish. How do we stop the pain? We remove the irritant and heal our wounds.

When people resist and have the courage to speak out, there is a power to stop predators from gambling with individual lives, liberty and justice under the law. So it is with the Republican assault on women through draconian anti-abortion laws. We must continue to push back, to rid these pebbles from our shoes, and resume our journey on the road forward.

In 2014 and 2016, we will have the opportunity to eliminate these pebbles and allow the healing to begin. Say "no" to unhealthy power. Social resistance brings inner power, peace and well-being.

Tomi Richardson

the right wing, like the left wing, is made up of people with a particular worldview. the beauty of living in a representative republic is that periodically the voters are able to peaceably change government and one of the great parts of our constitution is that egregious acts of an elected official can be addressed by others in elected (and to some extent those appointed and confirmed by the elected officials. If you believe that one party is tyrannical, use your vote to remove them but please don't pretend that your worldview is the only one that counts. Such a belief is what leads to tyranny of the majority, and in some cases tyranny of the minority.

Mr. Jack May:

I beg to differ.

I clearly included the "@" which indicates the original post was a response to something YOU posted, by someone else.

However, I share your frustration. I have complained many times over the atrocious practice of using the primary poster's name in the salutation of a post in response to the original, by someone else.

That is precisely why, when responding to a comment, I employ the format "So and so posted:" IN THE BODY OF THE POST, after my name, followed with a quote from the post.

I find no "False implication," intentional or unintentional, in my post.

@ Alan Whitney
You should be careful of how you post comments. Your post gives the impression that the remarks you quote are attributed to me. I did not post the remarks that you quoted even though you included my name. False implication, even by indirect methods, is still implication.

I think this post is just plain mean.

I poke people in this forum all the time. I try to get under their skin. I often try to use humor and sarcasm, and I guess sometimes, I go too far.

But I never go out of my way to be cruel. Nobody should.

Article comment by: @ Mr Protected, Burn the Witch !

There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
Are there? What are they? Tell us. - Do they hurt?
Tell me, what do you do with witches?
Burn them!
And what do you burn, apart from witches?
More witches! - Wood!
So why do witches burn?
'Cause they're made of wood? - Good!
(thanks Monty Python)

@@ Jack May, Does Michelle Star weigh the same as duck? I'm kinda' in to witches and you know her so well.

Thank you Tom Richardson for a well written letter. Hate is the agenda for the right with Rush as their mouthpiece. Our House of Representatives wasted forty votes in congress trying to abolish our National Health Care Act even thought they knew it would not pass the Senate. If the average worker wasted half that time they would be fired.

Anyone ever notice how only Michelle Star gets to say witch Babies live & witch ones die?
Some deranged lunatic kills 22 innocent children we need to ban guns!
But the wonderful Mommies can kill 100's of them daily & we call that a choice!
Our Liberal Country get sicker every day!
Murder is Murder, but you call it choice if that helps you look in the mirror every day !

What do you say concerning the principle that injury should be recompensed with kindness?” The Master said, “With what then will you recompense kindness? Recompense injury with justice and recompense kindness with kindness.”

Not to confuse tactics with pacifism, it's how we mutts will overcome the Baldwin's pet-bulls -- err pits.

Resistance is often unwise but never futile. A way of humans, and given similarities, possibly dogs.

I too abhor ALEC Baldwin. Hunt for Red October was good, Beetlejuice like wallpaper and The Shadow knows what I think. Finally others are seeing ALEC for the tyrant he is. A good sign.

@Tom Steele

One can hardly blame the tear in our social fabric and morals on the victims facing the hard decisions. You can thank the destruction of the economy and the Great Recession on the very rightwing policies you so foolishly promote. But that's the Republican trick, deregulation and low taxes for the wealthy and greed that fuels the right-wing extremism and racism for greed and profit, and when the economy fails to provide a decent life for families, you blame it on their own failings. Bootstraps and welfare queens, stuck on Reagan stupid and not hopes of being wised up, but you keep on as you and the fellow travelers of common interest will find the corporatist you promote will not bring the utopia you might have envisioned. Quite the opposite, if you have learned nothing about ALEC and capture of our utility regulators. Sabe?

Who is this Michelle Star? She sure sounds like an lonely, uneducated, and angry, left wing radical who spews forth the left wing hate filled agenda on command. I wonder if she is on George Soros's payroll ?

@Michelle Star, how "male chauvinist" do you think Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Weiner, and many more Democrats are? You seem to lump all old, white, rich, men into Republicans but fail to identify the Democratic ones.

Lost in boredom and angst, I have turned to an anagram generator, and have in-put "Michelle Star."

Some of the more peculiar results are:

Helical terms
Chimera tells
Recall theism (Oh, my GOD!)
Hamlet's Relic
Harem cellist (I tremble...)
Rat schlemiel
Mescal Hitler

and my very favorite,
Small Heretic.

Tomi is upset by "...draconian anti-abortion laws."

Oh, you're gonnna have a baby! Relax... Have an abortion!

Ah, the sublime pleasure of unfettered murder.

You liberal women are brain deprived. If you are sexually active and over 16 you know what sex can lead to. You also should know abortions are not for birth control but killing human beings. I'll bet you also don't approve of the death penalty for convicted killers. Kill an innocent baby because you are to stupid to be on the "pill" but no death penalty for a murderer. Great logic.

"social resistance brings inner power, peace and well-being".

Good eye, Grasshopper @not all women think alike !

Resistance is futile. To resist is to loose. Lead them by their energy and aggressive force to enlightenment.

Wow - the only thing missing in this letter was the singing of "Kum Ba Ya" at the end.

I'm also a female (who believes in choice) however there are many more issues than abortion that we as a nation are facing today.

The nonchalant attitude you show in your statement "social resistance brings inner power, peace and well-being is more of a scary thought than your perception of draconian acts by Republicans.

For the democrats that feel so smart and superior:
Sarah Weddington came to Prescott last year to talk in support of abortion. She said that the basis of ROEvs Wade is that american constitution protects only the rights of the people born in the USA (meaning out of the uterus) or naturalized citizen. No discussion of the human traits before birth. At the same time, as a good democrat, she thinks that the american constitution is wrong for illegal immigrants. Forget your hate of white repubblican males. Are you really sure that a fetus is not a baby?
