The Yavapai College volleyball team stockpiled all the momentum it could muster before hosting the defending conference champs this Friday.

The Lady Riders controlled Pima with a four-game win Wednesday at the Storm Center. After trouncing the Aztecs 30-18 in the opener, YC lost a 30-32 battle in the second, only to come back for wins of 30-22, 30-18 to close out the match.

"First and fourth game we were very dominant and played really, really well," YC head coach Matt Cohen said. "Pima's really struggling and it was nice to get out of here fairly quickly with no injuries and minimal mistakes."

Freshman setter Brittnee Eiler registered 50+ assists for a second consecutive match, feeding every ball in sight to an attack that featured four hitters with double-digit kills.

Nichole Wanninger got things rolling with seven kills in the opener on her way to a team-best 18 for the match, in addition to her nine digs on defense.

"She really led us tonight. I was really pleased," Cohen said. "It was her best effort of the season by far."

Eiler finished the night with 54 assists. Brittney Strumer tallied 15 kills, and Stacia Wolff, who leads the ACCAC in digs, collected 22 on the match.

Yavapai (9-11, 4-3) entertains first-place Arizona Western this Friday night at the Storm Center. First serve is at 7 p.m.
