Starting east of Chino Valley, area resident Gary Beverly hiked 30 miles up the Upper Verde in May, 2008 to document damage from off-road vehicles (ORVs) and trash he'd been seeing while volunteering with the Sierra Club Water Sentinels. Beverly made this short documentary about his trip. "The movie is supposed to show people what a beautiful place the Upper Verde is, and motivate them to do something," Beverly said.

Gary has documented the damage that ATV riders have caused. It is obvious that many (not all, but too many) of these folk are totally clueless regarding the damage that their machines cause in areas that they shouldn't be. Who knows how their brains work regarding and piles and piles of trash that they leave. By all means have a good time, stay on the proper trails, enjoy the beauty, take your trash home with you. The area that you enjoy so much is part of the commons it is for all to enjoy as well, don't screw it up for everyone else. It just makes sense to those that can understand.

Typical Enviro-facist propaganda. These people won't be happy until they've outlawed all lands for everybody (except them).

STOP BASHING ALL ATV RIDERS most all are very responsable riders who respect the enviroment. Most of us can't spend a week or more to explore 30 miles of river. ATVs inable riders who are not as fit as you to see and expearance more countryside in a resonable time frame and do little harm.

Thanks for an informative well-documented video, Gary. It helped me recognize some signs of danger to the river from ATVs and pollution. Looking forward to Saturday.
