recommendations for CIP projects

The Dewey-Humboldt Town Council this week will hear a presentation from the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) Committee chairman about infrastructure project recommendations for fiscal year 2011 and the 2012-21 CIP Project schedule.
During their meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday inside Town Hall, 2735 S. Highway 69, council members likely will decide whether to approve CIP chairman Doyle Wiste's suggestions for fiscal year 2011.
Wiste will present to council his committee's project rankings, which reflected high scores for a community complexes study (i.e. - where to put a new community center and town hall), open space preservation, and Rocky Hill Road's inclusion into the town's roads system.
In all, the committee reviewed 28 projects in three separate categories - community complexes, general government and transportation - with a total capital cost of $18.8 million. Thirteen of the proposed projects are recommended for roads at a projected $10 million.
If council approves the suggestions, town staff and the committee can prepare presentations for a Dec. 8 public workshop regarding 2012 projects and beyond.
After the workshop, council members will discuss the projects Dec. 15 before the town publishes a CIP report.
On Jan. 5, council will decide whether to adopt the report, but it will not agree to any specific projects or spending.
IN OTHER BUSINESS, the council plans to:
Award a $29,900 contract to Prescott-based Lyon Engineering to conduct a topographical survey of Prescott Dells Ranch Road from Highway 69 to 200 feet past Dewey Road, and Dewey Road from Prescott Dells Ranch Road to 200 feet north of Pinto Lane.
The survey will determine where the existing road is in comparison with the recorded easement and provide some data for construction plans.
Hear a request from the Friends of the Dewey-Humboldt Library for the town to reimburse the group for unanticipated costs associated with its Strategic Community Partnership grant.
Discuss requirements for releasing grant money to grant recipients that did not apply through the Strategic Community Partnership Grant application process, including the D-H Agua Fria Festival Committee.
Conduct a public hearing for the town to annex the remainder of the so-called "county strip" along the town's northern border.
Call an executive session to discuss Town Manager William Emerson's contract, which expires Feb. 28, 2010.
