YCSO arrests man linked to car thefts

Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 23-year-old man suspected in a string of vehicle burglaries in Paulden, Inscription Canyon, Chino Valley and the Pine Lakes subdivision just outside of Prescott.

Sheriff's deputies booked Jeremiah Kennedy into the Camp Verde jail on charges of presenting a forged instrument, possession of drug paraphernalia and nine counts of burglary.

Deputies said Kennedy was seen inside the Wal-Mart on Gail Gardner Way in Prescott with a woman who allegedly tried to use a debit card stolen from a car in Pine Lakes, said Dwight D'Evelyn, media and crime prevention coordinator for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. Two days later, Sheriff's deputies learned Kennedy allegedly cashed two stolen checks that belonged to the same victim whose debit card had been stolen at two Prescott banks, D'Evelyn added.

Prescott Police officers found Kennedy at a home on Rush Street and detained him for an interview with Sheriff's deputies.

On Monday, a victim from one of the Pine Lakes vehicle burglaries identified property found in Kennedy's vehicle. Deputies have leads linking Kennedy to other vehicle burglaries, and more charges are expected, D'Evelyn said.

Kennedy is due in court Nov. 24.

Response to no name.. Leaned from his parents? OK.. After reading this story, it says he is 23, over the age of accountability. Most parents are good, kind loving, and for what ever reason, there kids make wrong choices. I’ve also seen terrible abusive parents who’s offspring turn out wonderful. Its ignorant to blame this boys parents for his choices. I hope that if you have children, grandchildren and some makes bad life choices that people wont be so quick to put the blame on you.. This world has a way of humbling people who enjoy judging others!

Wow, I am so amused that every time a young adult commits a crime, everyone assumes it's because of their parents. It is NOT always the parents' fault. Many bring their kids up right and when they get to a certain age they begin to make their own mistakes. Some will learn a lesson the first time and some don't. God Bless the kids of today's generation and hopefully they will turn their lives around.

Article comment by: There are more out there

I am the woman that was careless enough to leave my check book & debit card in my car...however had I not done this stupid thing this guy would have not been caught....there are 3 more out there and it is just a matter of time before they all get their due. I am a long time Prescott resident and I always felt safe to leave things in my car at my residence but it is no longer the case here in Prescott. Be carefull everyone.
