Police make arrests in prostitution probe
Special to the Courier

PRESCOTT - The Arizona Department of Public Safety and Partners Against Narcotic Trafficking concluded a nine-month investigation with the arrest of a 56-year-old woman on suspicion of prostitution and other offenses.

They served search warrants early Thursday morning, with help from Prescott police and the Yavapai County Attorney's Office, on massage parlors at 623 Walnut and 1385 Iron Springs Road. They also served a search warrant at a home of the business owner in the 200 block of Hillside.

They arrested Jainn Chyun Lan at the time of the search warrants after an investigation involving a criminal organization taking part in prostitution, illegally conducting an enterprise, racketeering and participation in a criminal syndicate.

Police also seized approximately $10,000 in cash and a 2005 Mercedes Benz.

The investigation followed complaints to police from people after masseuses offered them sexual services for what they thought would be a legal massage, according to Prescott Police Lt. Andy Reinhardt. As a result, DPS and PANT conducted undercover operations and surveillances of the businesses to gather evidence to support the arrest and search warrants in the case.

Police arrest DUI suspect
Prescott police Wednesday arrested a 33-year-old Prescott man after he allegedly tried to flee police, Lt. Andy Reinhardt reported.

Yavapai-Prescott Tribal Police contacted their Prescott counterparts after learning a man later identified as Michael Francis failed to stop, with the tribal police entering Prescott's jurisdiction.

The suspect reportedly had followed a woman from Wilhoit, who then contacted tribal police.

As Prescott police tried to stop the suspect, he intentionally swerved into two officers' vehicles, forcing them to avoid a collision.

The suspect ran nine red lights and drove erratically to evade police, who disabled his vehicle after they placed spikes in the 1300 block of Iron Springs Road.

Police arrested the suspect shortly after 11 a.m. without incident, and processed him on suspicion of drunken driving with a blood alcohol content exceeding 2.5 times the legal limit (0.215 percent).

They took him to the county jail in Camp Verde, and booked him on two counts of aggravated assault, felony flight, extreme DUI and reckless drive.

He is detained on a $15,000 bond pending a court hearing Tuesday, Reinhardt reported.

And it only took them 9 months? Their must be a valid reason it took so long. Seems that after the first few complaints an officer going and taking with the people running it would ahve put a stop to it sooner. Maybe there were waiting for a big weekend so they could get $10,000 in cash and a 2005 Mercedes Benz.

Interesting, the prostitution story made the 10:00 news in Phoenix. The Courier merges it with a DUI story.
