Yavapai College's building program receives prestigious award
Special to the Courier

Yavapai College's Residential Building Technology Program in Chino Valley was one of 12 energy-conscious builders that received honors Jan. 19 with EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA). College officials received the award during a gala celebration at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas.

Officials conducted the ceremony before the opening of the National Association of Home Builder's (NAHB) 2009 International Builders Show.

The EVHA are the nation's preeminent energy efficient awards honoring builders who voluntarily incorporate energy efficiency into all aspects of new home construction. The awards are the result of a partnership between the NAHB Research Center and the U.S. Department of Energy.

NAHB's panel of judges selected the EVHA winners from builders' projects in three climate regions (cold, moderate, hot) and five categories (affordable, custom/demonstration, factory-built, multi-family, production).

Yavapai College's Residential Building Technology Program received the 2009 EVHA Gold Award in the affordable category for moderate climate.
