Crews find fire near Palace Station, plan to fight it this morning
The Daily Courier

Firefighters located a wildfire south of Prescott as night fell Monday and plan to return today to put it out.

The fire was not producing flames as the sun went down, so officials do not believe it presents any danger.

The fire is located in Crooks Canyon, about 2.5 miles southwest of historic Palace Station.

It was too dark Monday night to tell the acreage of the fire.

The fire is not likely to spread in the cool darkness, Prescott Forest spokesperson Debbie Maneely said.

A storm system that's supposed to move into the state tonight should be strong enough to douse any flames.

The fire is likely either human-caused or caused by a power line.

Article comment by: Where is it?

"The fire is located in Crooks Canyon, about 2.5 miles southwest of historic Palace Station." Never heard of either location, and I've been here for a lot of years. How about "The fire is about seven miles east of Wilhoit, just south of Prescott," as one TV station described it?
