PRESCOTT VALLEY - Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Friday on suspicion of sexual assault.

Deputies booked Cresenciano Lopez-Nava, 36, into the Camp Verde jail on charges of sexual assault, aggravated assault, four counts of forgery and an outstanding arrest warrant.

Shortly after 4 a.m. Friday, deputies and detectives responded to the report of a sexual assault in the Castle Canyon Mesa neighborhood of Prescott Valley, said Dwight D'Evelyn, media and crime prevention coordinator for the YCSO.

A 33-year-old woman told deputies she had been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance she identified as Nava, D'Evelyn said. The woman told deputies that she and Nava had never been romantically involved.

The victim said she and another female friend had been drinking at home with Nava the previous evening. At some point before the assault, the other woman left, D'Evelyn said, adding when the victim woke early Friday morning, Nava was in the process of sexually assaulting her.

The woman struggled to get away from him, but Nava fought back injuring the woman's hands, D'Evelyn said. Deputies noted the victim's hands bled as a result of the struggle.

"The room she was in showed signs of a struggle," D'Evelyn said. "It matched statements she made about fighting him off."

The woman continued fighting Nava, until he ran from the residence, D'Evelyn said.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for her injuries.

Sheriff's detectives executed a search warrant at Nava's residence and found two Social Security cards, each with different numbers and both in Nava's name, D'Evelyn said. They also found a forged permanent resident card and a forged resident alien card bearing Nava's name.

Deputies went to Nava's workplace in Prescott Valley, but "he did not show up for work," D'Evelyn said. Deputies called Nava on his cell phone, met him in Prescott Valley and arrested him.

Nava told deputies the victim had consented to sex, D'Evelyn said.

Immigration and Custom Enforcement officials confirmed Nava was an illegal alien, D'Evelyn said.

"ICE records showed he had been deported twice previously," D'Evelyn said.

Sheriff's detention officers placed an immigration hold on Nava, and he remains in custody without bond, D'Evelyn said.

This will make many of you unhappy. Too bad! It's not janets fault. It's not the politicians fault. It's not the employers' fault. It's YOUR fault. Poll after poll shows that the vast majority of Americans want the borders sealed and illegals sent home. Yet, all you do is whine while sitting on your duff at home, refusing to stand up, get out the door, and demand your government do your will. You DO have responsibilities as an American to ensure the laws are enforced and your safety is secured. Quit whining about the problems around you which are destroying this nation and actually get out and do something about it. Otherwise, shut up and live with your own choices.

WARNING: Politically Incorrect comment follows... It's ALL about politics. The liberal multi-cultural elites ruining our country think it's okay for the racist latino advocacy organization La Raza (partially funded by taxpayers) and the anti-religious-conservative ACLU to sue Sheriff Joe Arpaio for enforcing Immigration Laws. Those who break into America won't follow any law, such as rape, false documents, robbery, or driving drunk without insurance, etc. Having the same border enforcement as Mexico does for it's southern border should be done!

What gets me is then these guys get to protest in the US. The reason they don't protest back in Mexico is because they'll get murdered. We've welcomed them and supported them for too long. I agree that deporting doesn't do anything except cost the US more money, because they're back in a week commiting the same old crimes as before. It's a vicious cycle that Napolitono compltely ignored. She couldn't even secure Arizona's borders. I sure feel confident in her ability to secure the nation's. What a joke. So the two options we've been using have not worked. Send them back...they come back. Lock them up...taxpayers foot the bill for someone who shouldn't be here regardless. SECURE THE BORDERS...SOLVE THE PROBLEM!

Blubbering liberals offer comments about "short sighted politics" and "chain gangs" as their only ability to deal with important matters facing our country. They are so very feeble and helpless when it comes to responsible citizenship. Difficult matters cause them to just shrink in to frightened children with no common sense or intellectual perspective. All they have to offer are emotional rants, straw-man arguments and insults to those they disgree with. You'd think they would have a little more self-respect.

I find it interesting that every post involves politics or religion. This has nothing to do with either, It has to do with someone who broke the law, more than once. He needs to be punished for his actions when and if he is found guilty. I'm sure that wont happen, I'm sure he will be deported and be back a week after to do it again. Personally how about we start charging the mexican goverment for every one of their citizens in our prison/jail system.

Deporting doesn't solve anything - he's been there and back again twice. I think Poland had the right idea with the chemical castration upon release from prison.

mike: The problem is the politics (the lack of will on the part of both parties to really address the problem) result in the perp being here in the first place. If he wasn't living here, the crime committed here would not have happened. The politics ARE the problem.

What he is accused of is wrong and should he be found guilty of one or all counts I see no reason why he should our expense. But I don't want to have to pay for anybody else's court costs or prison time either. Why can't we leave every criminal out in the Sonoran desert and they decide which way to go & die? Too extreme? Ok let's put them on a chain gang and build new highways, clean roadsides, thin the forests, etc. What do good 'ol conservative Republicans want, "not to help, not our problem". How Christian-like is that thinking?

Just add another to the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens either in U.S. prisons or being sought for crimes similar to these. The courts, jails/prisons, probation authorities, law enforcement agencies...the cost for these services provided to the illegal alien population is massive. Then you can add healthcare, food and housing assistance, education and so on for a nice cost to the U.S. taxpayer in the tens of billions annually. People, the term is "unsustainable", that's it, period.

Article comment by: When do we get tired of this?

Hey, he's just here to work and anyone that objects to his conduct is a racist. When do we get tired of this? We have enough criminals that are citizens, we don't need any more. The Democrats have their way and guys like this get amnesty and citizenship in the hopes they will vote Democrat.
