A woman suspected of identity theft has made more than 47 charges, including some in Prescott Valley, on a stolen credit card account number, according to the Gilbert Police Department.

Police have released surveillance photos of the woman, who is Caucasian and has blond or light-brown hair. Anyone who recognizes the woman should contact the Gilbert Police Department at (480) 503-6500 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

The woman is wanted for forgery, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card and ID theft, said Sgt. Mark Marino of the Gilbert Police Department.

The victim, who lives in Massachusetts, learned the suspect opened a previously closed Visa credit account when a debt collection agency contacted her, Marino said. The victim ran a credit check and found her listed address was changed to one in Gilbert, Marino said.

More than 47 fraudulent charges occurred in Prescott Valley, Mayer, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe and Apache Junction between June 11 and June 23, 2009, police said.

Prescott Valley police arrested a woman Friday on suspicion that she made 47 fraudulent credit card charges. Delores Jean Rakow was arrested for credit card theft and fraud after an anonymous tipster revealed her identity to police, said Lt. Hugh White of the Gilbert police. Police agencies stretching from Prescott Valley to Mesa had been searching for a woman wanted in connection to the fraud. The tipster came forward after police released surveillance footage of the woman late last week, White said. Gilbert police said Rakow is suspected of making the phony charges in Prescott Valley, Mayer, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe and Apache Junction between June 11 and June 23.
