9 indicted in Chino Valley biker shootings
The Yavapai County Attorney's Office released Wednesday indictments returned by a Yavapai County Grand Jury on Sept. 1 for nine men charged in the Aug. 21 shooting between the Hells Angels and Vagos motorcycle gangs in an unincorporated area northwest of Chino Valley.

A teenage boy was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and another teen was cited for possession of tobacco on Sept. 1 after an officer performing a property watch in the 900 block of Gurley Street saw four teens in the storm drain tunnel nearby and heard them say "I'm so high" and "You go next."

Prescott National Forest burn season starts Friday
Prescott National Forest fire managers are kicking off their fall prescribed burning season as early as Friday, if weather conditions are favorable in the Prescott area.

The Prieta burn will cover 1,650 acres just west of Prescott and Thumb Butte. It will continue as long as conditions are favorable, but no burning takes place on weekends.

Student drug arrests top 1 per week in Prescott
EDITOR'S NOTE: This school year has already seen at least four drug-related arrests in the past two weeks on Prescott Unified School District campuses, reinforcing the drug education needed for young students. We have examined the campus drug arrests and awareness during the 2009-10 school year. No names of those arrested are used since the students involved are minors.

From the beginning of the 2009-10 school year until the last day of school, 59 children - more than one child a week - had been arrested for drug offenses, said Lt. Andy Reinhardt, spokesman for the Prescott Police Department.

Endangered fish find home at Rio Salado Audubon Center
Two endangered species of native fish became the newest residents to the outdoor ponds at the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center in Phoenix.

Nearly 500 desert pupfish and 550 Gila topminnow were released this past Tuesday into the center's ponds as part of a program aimed at allowing private landowners to participate in the conservation of threatened and endangered species.
