The Prescott Farmers Market (PFM) will welcome customers for its 21st summer season each Saturday from May 5 until October 27. Since 1997, PFM has operated markets of various sizes in several locations. The summer market at Yavapai College will have about 50 vendors, including several new booths. The official summer season will begin on Saturday, May 12 from 7:30 a.m. until noon. New products at the market will include kombucha, mushrooms, popcorn, and wood-fired pizza. The market on May 12 will celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with a donation-based photo booth, sponsored by Christine Berea Photography and One Hundred Chairs. “A farmers market is a unique place. It's so much more than your regular grocery store. It's a gathering place for delicious food grown, harvested, and cooked by our neighbors. When you buy foods at the market, you can trust that you’re buying it from the person who grew or made it. It’s great to know that my food comes from the same amazing place I like to call home,” said PFM Market Manager JB Del Campo. Each week at the market, customers can find a variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, baked goods, eggs, nuts, grass-fed beef, pork and poultry. Local farmers grow a variety of vegetables throughout the season, including leeks, potatoes, beets, radishes, carrots, salad mix, squash, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and melons. PFM on Saturday is a great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch with a wide variety of tamales, tacos, quiche, breakfast muffins, samosas, grass-fed burgers and baked goods, as well as fresh brewed coffee. Customers can swipe their SNAP/EBT, debit or credit cards to receive tokens at the information booth. The Double Up Food Bucks Arizona program allows customers to double their SNAP benefits at the market, up to $20 per market visit. All vendors always accept cash. PFM is a producer-only farmers market, meaning every item sold is either grown or produced by the seller using Arizona-grown ingredients. Their annual Farm to Table Dinner will take place this year at the Holiday Courtyard on Sunday, August 19, with a pop-up market on Montezuma St. Tickets to the fundraiser will be available via their website starting May 7. As a vital part of the economy, the mission of Prescott Farmers Market is to support and expand local agriculture, cultivate a healthy community and increase access to affordable local food.
