Bocce ball is a simple game that's easy to learn but hard to master. People who have never played the game get 'on a roll' almost immediately after picking up their first bocce ball. Bocce requires no special physical skills and is a popular event at the Senior Olympics. Come out for the fresh air and a fun time. Bocce ball is the second most popular sport in the world. Only soccer is more popular. Players of all ages enjoy the game. Play begins when one player tosses or bowls the pallino to a place beyond the mid-line of the court. That same player then tosses or bowls his first bocce as close to the pallino as possible. The opposing player then tries to toss or bowl his bocce either closer to the pallino or to hit his opponent's ball away from the pallino. Play continues until all the ball are bowled. The teams receive one point for each bocce that is closer to the pallino than their opponent's bocce. We are an informal group that offers free lessons to help people learn the rules and finer points of the sport. We have no meetings, no dues, no rules, no bocce ball playing experience is required and you do not need to personally own a set of bocce balls. We play, weather permitting, at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Watson Lake Park courts. Free lessons provided to all that are interested in learning the sport. For more information contact
