Local Musicians The Electric Swamp Poets Duo will be hosting a combination fund raiser and Blues Jam Session on Tues. Jan. 24th from 6-9pm at Far From Folsom in Prescott to raise expenses to send the Duo to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn. the first week of February 2017. They are nominated in two categories; "Best New Independent Blues Album Of The Year" and "Best New Blues Duo Act"."Its ironic", says leader Christian Michael Berry, "as Blues is just one aspect of what we do. Of the 15 songs on our album its safe to say there are 15 different genres of American roots music represented. Needles to say, Its an incredible honor to be recognized and asked to perform and compete". The International Blues Challenge which is put on by the Blues Foundation and sponsored in Arizona by the Northern Arizona Blues Alliance is considered the Mecca of International Blues events. As the name implies, People come from all over the world and many "Famous" blues artists got their starts and recognition there. The event is attended by many international "Movers and Shakers" of the Blues Music Industry including Record Label Heads, International Tour Organizers, Radio Station Programmers, Journalists and Television & Movie soundtrack supervisors. There have been many people who although they didn't win the competition still walked away with Record Deals etc. The benefit show will feature many surprise guests including some "Hall of Famers" and is open to all who wish to come and Jam.
