Later this month, the public is welcome join the troops of the 10th Cavalry Association Buffalo Soldiers reenactment group as they provide living history presentations at Fort Verde State Historic Park in Camp Verde.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, and continue from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Feb. 14.
Bring a special someone or a group of loved ones to Fort Verde and learn about history with the Buffalo Soldiers.
The Buffalo Soldiers will dress in period replica uniforms and equipment issued by the U.S. Army during the 1870s Indian War period. Members of this troop have appeared in feature films, commercials, historical videos, parades and reenactments.
Troop 1, 10th Cavalry of the Buffalo Soldiers was the first troop of its kind to serve at Fort Verde. It was organized in 1866 and came to Fort Verde in 1885, after a distinguished record of military service during the Indian Wars of the Western frontier.

The park is located in downtown Camp Verde. From Prescott, take Highway 69 east toward Highway 169 and turn left. Travel about 15 miles to Interstate 17 and turn left on the highway toward Flagstaff. Then take the exit to East Highway 260 toward Camp Verde. Turn left on Main Street to 125 E. Holloman St. and go two blocks down on the right side.
Admission into the park is $3 for children and those 14 and older. Youth ages 13 to 17 get in for $1 each. Children 12 and younger are admitted for free.
Arizona State Parks offers a free annual pass to disabled veterans who live in Arizona and are qualified at 100 percent disability.
