Youngsters ages 3 to 10 will have the chance to create their own artwork from recyclable objects during spring break at The Spot - A Child's Museum.
The Spot, where children can "inquire, discover, imagine and create," will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Saturday, March 13, through March 20 for children to drop in.
Artist and teacher Cathi Johnson will present "Recycle/Upscale Art" so that young participants can make their own sculptures to take home or leave for display in the museum.
Tickets are $3 per person. Parents must accompany their children.
Starting March 26, the museum will be open every Friday for two sessions: 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. The focus will be on art projects, and the museum will add science projects in the near future.
Still in its infancy, the Spot opened its doors in 2009 in Prescott Gateway Mall near the inside entrance to Dillard's. The Spot is northern Arizona's first children's museum, and its goal is to provide interactive play experiences that will stimulate curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving.
