PRESCOTT - As part of an ongoing effort to monitor water quality in the Granite Creek watershed, volunteers soon will be out testing creek water.
The inter-agency Watershed Improvement Council has been working for months on ways to monitor and improve water quality in local creeks.
To kick off the monitoring, the Prescott Creeks organization and the Watershed Improvement Council conducted a training session in January for volunteers interested in doing the testing.
The trained volunteers are now ready to go out on the creeks to take samples, said Watershed Program Coordinator Amanda Richardson, and the Watershed Improvement Council wants creek-side property owners to be aware that the people are a part of a citizen water quality monitoring effort.
Richardson said she expects monitoring efforts to take place during the third week of the month.
