Yavapai County sheriff's deputies arrested a Rimrock man this past Saturday after he allegedly cut off a portion of his girlfriend's finger and threatened to kill her and his mother.

Deputies arrested Ronald Gene Olivier, 48, and booked him into the Camp Verde jail on charges of two counts of kidnapping per domestic violence, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of preventing use of a telephone per domestic violence, criminal damage, and resisting arrest.

When Yavapai County sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 12, the suspect's mother flagged them down, told them her son had fled and his 43-year-old girlfriend was hiding at a neighbor's home, said Dwight D'Evelyn, media and crime prevention spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

The victim told deputies that Olivier allegedly locked her and his 68-year-old mother in a room after he drank beer all day and became upset with her attitude toward him, D'Evelyn said. The victim said Olivier allegedly threatened to harm them with a sword if they tried to leave, D'Evelyn added. At one point, Olivier allegedly hit the victim with the sword and threatened to kill her and his mother.

The victim said she tried to escape twice, but wasn't able to, D'Evelyn said.

Under threat of death, the victim said she put her hand on a table and Olivier allegedly cut off a portion of her left pinky finger with a sword, D'Evelyn said.

When Olivier didn't let the victim recover her severed finger, she ran to a neighbor's home and sought help, D'Evelyn said.

Doctors could not reattach the victim's finger, D'Evelyn said.

Olivier remains in custody on a $150,000 bond, D'Evelyn said.

Not everyone who consumes alcohol is violent or crazy, blaming the use of alcohol is the same as blaming the devil. Personally I'd like to outlaw stupidity with a mandatory 10-25 year prison sentence, but where would we house all of the town idiots? (Of course we could send them all to Washington, but alas, they have their fare share)

Alcohol possession, consumption should be illegal. Punishable by a term of 10- 25 yrs in prison.

The CA's office will make him a deal offering him barely any prison time like they always do. Remember you can do whatever you want because you know there will always be a deal waiting for you .... Time for some change that is real change (not Obama change). NO PLEA DEAL, for us the citizens, the ones you work for.

Another fine citizen ready for prison. I think we should bring back chain gangs so he can put that extra energy to work busting up some rocks all day in the quarry for the new cement plant.

Sounds like attempted murder to me along with kidnapping. No Bail, simple trial with a court appointed attorney and wammo a life without parole or 55year plus sentence. He finds a new mate in prison, later dies and life goes on. My question is why does he have a bond at all? why does the court give an option for this type of criminal to be free in society? Listen Judges and Prosecuting attorney's...you work for us and we do not want this type of person free in society, we want this criminal locked up FOREVER. I'll make it even clearer. "Start doing your jobs that we gave you or we will take those Jobs away from you".

Sounds to me like someone has a pretty harsh probationary sentence coming.
