UPDATE, 7:14 p.m.:

PRESCOTT VALLEY - Prescott Valley Police Friday evening continued the search for a man who robbed a bank hours earlier, Police Sgt. Brandon Bonney said.

"They are searching the entire area, the area around the bank," Bonney said, referring to Country Bank in the 3000 block of Glassford Hill Road. He added the Arizona Department of Public Safety aided the search with a Ranger helicopter.

Police responded at approximately 2:56 p.m. to a call about an armed robbery that a man wearing dark clothing had committed, Bonney said. The man concealed his face as well, and displayed a dark-colored handgun.

Bank officials, Bonney said, "are not disclosing" how much money the robber took. The man fled on foot.

He said officers need to study the bank's security video to find out what the robber used to conceal his face.

No bank employees were injured during the robbery.

Bonney is encouraging anyone who witnessed something suspicious in the area around the time of the robbery to call the Police Department at 928-772-9267 or Yavapai Silent Witness at (800) 932-3232.

INITIAL REPORT:

Prescott Valley Police are looking for a person who robbed the Country Bank at gunpoint Friday afternoon.

"At 2:56 p.m., Prescott Valley officers responded to Country Bank at 3044 Glassford Hill Road for a report of an armed robbery," said PVPD spokesman Brandon Bonney. "Officers learned that someone they believe to be an adult male who was wearing dark clothing and had his face concealed displayed a dark-colored handgun in an effort to rob the bank."

Bonney said the man did steal an undisclosed amount of cash, and then fled on foot from the bank. He also said officers would have to study the bank's security video to find out what the suspect used to hide his face.

"Officers will be speaking to the tellers to find out more," Bonney said. He said no bank employees were injured in the robbery.

Bonney asked that anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area around the time of the robbery, or who hears "any type of bragging," call the Prescott Valley Police dispatch number at 928-772-9267.

Let's go... "in need of a better life" - many of us have been harshly affected by recent economic events. Your attitude to condone criminal behavior is reprehensible. Shame on you! Cheryl & Jay - For your obviously simple-minded information, crime was actually occurring before President Obama took office. You cannot really blame the short-sighted greed of a loser on the man America elected as our leader. Good luck to you both.

So typical of society today. Someone commits a crime and lots of people here blame society and not the criminal. We're all experiencing hard times right now, but how many of us rob banks or commit crimes because of it? No one is to blame for this except the robber, not politicians, not the big banks, not society, not anyone else but the robber. And those who work in the "too big too (sic) fail" banks don't deserve to be threatened because of the bank for which they're working. They're also working for a living. Grow up people and learn to take responsibility for your own actions!

i feel truly bad for the people who were scared by this man's actions, but in this hard economic time I really can't blame people for going to extreams. The bank has theft insurance im sure, so if the guy didnt hurt anyone, im sorry to say this...but i hope he gets away with his money and lives a happy life in the islands somewhere.

Country Bank is actually a respectable bank unlike the many too big too fail banks that were bailed out. I don't condone the behavior of this robber but he is doing less damage than any of the too big too fail banks ... have done over the past decade. These too big too fail banks have robbed the American taxpayer in broad daylight all with the approval of Congress! We villainize the robber yet not the banker who approved loans that they knew the borrower would never be able to repay! In no way do I support the robber but can certainly understand his actions and possible reasons for doing such. The robber and many who work in these too big too fail banks should both be locked up.

AMAZED IN AZ : get ready there will be a lot more crime as the Develop or Die mentality is ingrained by the Cowboy Mafia that really only wants to sell land...but they need water. Their bedmates the Carpetbagger Developers are ready to sell out to anyone for a quick buck. The Town Center Police are needed at ED and Civic Center to chase pizza eaters and skateboarding kids and for Royal ceremonies at the Fain Palace Control Tower. Ok sometimes they chase down a cow. And if I need a cop I hope a Sheriff Deputy get the call they seem to do most of the police work around these parts. From P.V. police we get requests for assistance or identification months or weeks after the fact. Aggressive police patrol is needed, traffic stops and warrant checks not military creases and polished leather to make the Emerald City look ginger peachy.

To PROTECT & SERVE the PVPD is only worried about there pocket book parking the photo rader van at a bank will not generate money they will only park it were the speed limit should be higher than what it is like robert rd or navajo. Sorry PROTECT & SERVE the PVPD is only here to PROTECT & SERVE there own pockets. I have been calling the PVPD once a month for over year to park thier rader van near me but they have yet to do it everyone does 25 on the major thrufairs but soon as they get in to the residental areas there speed picks up because they don't park the vans on residental streets. I hate the PVPD. And if they went byby I would not have so many people having to speed past by house as they could go faster on the main thrufairs.

How very productive and rational---not to mention grownup---to blame and/or smear the PV police for this robber's arming himself to take what does NOT belong to him and then even throwing some blame at Obama for this criminal's actions. This man committed armed robbery---it is as simple as that and for anyone to slyly cheer from the sidelines simply to vent some sort of anti-police, anti-government frustration is really stupid.

It's sad to see all the blogs in support of the robber. It is sad to think that a lot of you are rooting for that guy. Telling him to get rid of the evidence so he can get away with it, is a slap to the face of decent and good people everywhere. I notice that none of you are concerned for the innocent ladies who just had a gun jammed in thier faces. My best wishes go out to the victims, best of luck to the police, and may the person who did this rot in a small cell.

To all of you who made fun of the PV Police - Heaven help you when you are in need of their services. They'll be a welcome sight to you. I have the utmost respect for the Police. They put their lives on the line every day for strangers. And please, no comments telling me they chose that profession. Hopefully the robber will get caught.....bad juju catches up sooner or later.

Mutts that are too lazy to find work are still mutts. Don't blame the economy to let criminals off the hook. I wonder how many of the writers above, blaming Big City Growth for the robbery, moved here during the past 15 years of our biggest growth? I was born in Prescott 68 years ago & I'm not complaining about it. I like all the local services & commercial outlets we've gained during this growth period, so that we don't HAVE to go to the big city in the Valley to get what we need. As to those writers blaming the economy, any able-bodied person standing in the welfare line can find work to earn enough money to get by. Try this: go down your street, offering to wash & wax someone's car for $10 or mow their lawn or rake their leaves, etc for $5 & see how often you are able to stick some cash in your pocket.Tell your neighbors you'll do any kind of legal & moral work they need done, for $5 per hour. Get out of the welfare line, get some pride & get to work & quit making excuses for people who'd rather take someone else's earnings than contribute to society.

Don't worry. The PV cops will call the bank next week and ask if they've found their missing money yet. They couldn't investigate their way out of a paper bag.

Too bad the robber didn't hit up Chase or Wells Fargo. Maybe the robber could have claimed they're simply getting some of their money back that was stolen through TARP! I fully expect more incidents of this nature as our economy worsens and people become more desperate.
