A teenager rolled a stolen car Tuesday on Prescott Lakes Parkway and faces multiple charges, Prescott Police say.

While investigating a roll-over accident at Prescott Lakes Parkway and Sundog Ranch Road at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, police learned about the reported theft of the 2001 Isuzu Rodeo, driven by a 16-year-old male runaway from Parks. Parks is 20 miles west of Flagstaff.

The boy, police said, had smoked marijuana prior to the accident.

Investigators say the boy was driving north down the hill on Prescott Lakes Parkway when he lost control of the vehicle, hit a curb and rolled the car. Police identified a passenger, Meredith Wright, 18, of Prescott Valley, as the driver's girlfriend. Medical personnel took both to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and release.

An acquaintance of the driver, also a 16-year-old runaway Parks resident, was following the vehicle and saw the accident. Officers learned from a Coconino County deputy that both juveniles were involved in the theft of the wrecked vehicle after they learned that a neighbor kept the keys to the car in the ashtray.

Officers booked the driver of the wrecked vehicle into jail on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated DUI, criminal damage, and endangerment. They also booked his acquaintance on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a prescription only drug.

No charges were filed on Wright at this time.

If you read a little history, you learn that the original anti-marijuana laws were passed in the early 1900's specifically to make it easier to bust Mexican immigrants to the Southwest. The racists who continue to demand a "War on Drugs!" are getting what they ask for, as their "war" turns into an actual shooting war against the well-armed drug cartels, who are financed by the price-support drug laws in the USA.

This is what happens when you do drungs for so long you get comfortable with them and start doing stupied things like, cutting off the person behind you because they thought it was fun but than you hit a curb and now your sercet is out you do drungs! Oh boy, They were under the influence so their brains couldn't function the fact that it was a bad idea! thats why USA prohibits Marijuana, for things like this. And i believe people are right if you dont like the rules then theres other places to live where they have the "Rules" you like, i bet if you can get a job you can take your Grandmother with you. I believe Merry and her 16year old boyfriend should pay for being so irresponsible. I mean if hundreds of people in prescott and prescott valley can do it then why cant them?

WOW, you all missed the real cause of the accident. It was the diamond back snake skin landscaping that took the drivers attention away from the road. Another great waste of our tax dollars, it looks like h--l period !

The other Countries may not consider their drug laws liberal, just because we do. And a 16 year old driving a car like he stole it is all it takes to have an accident. Sure, Marijuana is a great scapegoat, and looks great as a mitigating factor, but he could have just eaten a cheesburger and fries too. Blame it on that. This was just a punk who had no business behind the wheel of a car, especially someone elses. Fortunately he didn't kill anyone including himself.

To the guy or girl that found no-names comment to be racist, what about their comment was racist? I heard about the same news, how those countries have very liberal drug laws. I agree that people that want to do drugs should move to those countries that are more accepting of it and get them out of our society. I don’t want them endangering me, my family, and friends who abide by the laws designed to keep us all safe. That guy is obviously an American that doesn’t want drug users endangering them or their community. I think he gives Americans a great name and doesn’t want to give into the drug users desire to change our society. And to Sherry, I hope you get that justice.

What’s racist about sending drug users to those countries? If you haven’t already heard or read, those countries have very liberal drug laws for drug use. Mexico just passed a law making them one of the most liberal and tolerant country when it comes to personal drug use. American society is not as tolerant as those countries are. If those governments feel that someone like this young man isn’t a danger to public safety, then those wishing to use drugs should move such countries. Thank you for identifying that I am a “classy individual” but what did you find racist about my comment? If you are refusing to the listed countries, they are closer then the European countries to our community.

Pot or not, anyone who is raised to know right from wrong wouldn't have stolen a vehicle from another person. Part of the blame goes to the people who raised him, but then again, they were probably high most of the time...

MK--If you go from one end of Prescott Lakes Parkway to the other you go mostly N-S, not E-W. Courrier is correct.

To the very classy individual who suggested that people who do drugs move to Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Uruguay- ugly, racist people like you give Americans a bad name everywhere. I wish we could ship the likes of you to some godforsaken island in the middle of nowhere.
