18-year-old burglar turns himself in

On June 22, sheriff's deputies responded to a burglary report on Dead Cow Way in Juniper Woods. The homeowner told deputies he was gone for the day and when he came back he discovered that unknown suspects entered his home and stole several firearms, deputies said in a press release.

Deputies determined the suspects broke a window and unlocked the window latch to enter the home. Someone had stolen at least five firearms and assorted ammunition.

While checking the exterior of the property for evidence, deputies located fresh and clearly marked shoeprints at the point of entry. Deputies tracked the prints to the gate of a property belonging to the Neidermyer family on Dead Cow Way, the press release said.

Deputies spoke with family members, including 18-year-old Jason Neidermyer, who denied any involvement and suggested possible suspects who live in the area. Deputies left to continue their investigation.

On Wednesday the victim contacted deputies and reported that his neighbor located one of the stolen firearms in a dirt patch behind his (the neighbor's) home. Deputies contacted the neighbor and recovered a shotgun belonging to the victim.

On Wednesday night, the Peach Springs Police Department told deputies that Jason Neidermyer had turned himself in and admitted committing the burglary. Jason also turned in the remaining stolen firearms and ammunition taken from the victim's home, the release said.

Deputies contacted Neidermyer to continue their investigation and recover the stolen property.

On Thursday deputies booked him on charges of felony first-degree burglary, the release said.

The investigation continues and could result in the arrest of additional suspects, deputies said.

Article comment by: stupid and dangerous

What if a child found that gun? This is very dangerous, he should have more charges I think. They should also make it so he can't be a gun owner until he is 25 or something. He has no respect, or knowledge of guns and should be kept as far away from them as possible. He won't be smiling in a few years when he can't purchase or own a gun.

History of some sort names the streets. And at least it's not one of FOUR... Pine Rds. Hopefully the judge will give him a stiff sentence. That will wipe that smile off his face.
